OK, my punk band Kismetik's drummer has quit and it may take us ages to find a replacement. The upside is it has given me leverage with our guitarist/frontman to state my demands, amongst which is that I have a side project (he has one and our drummer had one, so I think its only fair). Playing punk originals is all well and good but means that our band often plays to very small audiences and also that its pretty hard to get gigs. Basically, I fancy the immediate gratification of playing songs on stage that people recognise and are into and that I love. Hence I am after an occasional covers band, preferably with more (ahem) mature musicians (I'm in my 40s). My all-time favourite band is Metallica and ideally I would love to play bass in a band that covered their early material (up to Black Album). But I would consider other loud guitar-based rock/metal too (not death metal, done that and can't stand the growling vocals), eg GnR or even classic punk (Clash, Pistols, Ruts etc). I also love Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds so would happily join a Bad Seeds/Grinderman/Birthday Party covers band too. Ideal for me would be to rehearse a couple of times a month and gig maybe once a month. Not a heavy schedule as I have a pretty demanding job, plus family commitments - and I need to leave time for Kismetik too. But enough for a bunch of like-minded people to have some fun. I have transport, good gear, I'm definitely not technically gifted but am a pretty good time-keeper. I'm also nerdily reliable about time (almost always arrive before the soundman and everyone else at gigs!) Plus I've played maybe 50 gigs in the last 2-3 years so I know what that side is all about. I live near Hammersmith but work near Liverpool Street and usually rehearse in Camden area with Kismetik. Of course I'd be happy to rehearse a bit nearer where I live. Occasional Metallica (or Bad Seeds) covers band would be my ideal but, as I say, try me on anything else. Looks to have shockingly high action to me! Its not a DB fercrissakes, it looks like a 'normal' 34 inch scale length so I guess the guy must like a real thump from hi strings!

Good luck with your search but I don't think there are many lady DB players on this site (can only think of one off the top of my head). You may have to cast the net a bit wider or, gasp, consider someone of the male gender

And last one from me - Jason Newsted doing the solo entry to My friend of Misery live on his modded black Alembic Spoiler (like mine but with uprated electronics and an added middle pickup). The first 2-3 minutes should give a good idea of the Alembic natural sound - ignore the last minute of how-many-fx-can-I-play-with-simultaneously twaddle

Here's Holier than thou by Metallica - check out the bass break at 3:10 and you'll see what I mean about crunchy aggressive tone (not very cappuccino/latte to me!)

Or, in a distinctly rockier vein (and what attracted me to Alembics), try Metallica's Black Album, eg, Enter Sandman, Holier than Thou or My God of Misery. Quite an aggressive crunchy tone when played by Jason Newsted (or before him, Cliff Burton, who also used an Aria and a Rick)

Dan is now the owner of my old punk bass "Sid". Very easy deal, involving meeting on a tube platform (makes a change from car parks for me!) and I will just add to the list of posts above recommending Dan to deal with. Enjoy Sid!
