If you want to try flats on a Fender then it sounds like TI Jazz flats would suit you. Low tension, very smooth and a real Motown vibe ... But I use them in a punk band!
Whoahh! Absolute stunner - 'don't see many stealth Alembics - is this as good in terms of tone and playability as the exotic topped?
Yep, as far as I know it is of identical construction (you can discern on the back the lines marking the through body construction and the sandwich layers), the only difference being the thick gloss black paint and the chrome plating on the brass hardware. This one is a bit heavier than my soon-to-be ex flame maple Spoiler at about 10.5 lb, the maple capped one being 10 lb. Bearing in mind it's a 32 inch scale this means it is built like a tank!

Sorry Barry, not a patch on your gorgeous Alleva Willie Weeks

I have a flame maple Spoiler which I like a lot but is a little pretty to fit the punk/metal ethos (its on it way to another BC'er who will, I am sure, adore it). I have replaced it with an '88 all-black Spoiler which I show below for your delectation. Identical to one played by Cliff Burton (RIP) of Metallica and similar to one played by Cliff's replacement Jason Newsted. Sounds great, looks rock and is made with usual Alembic ultra-high quality. Welcome to the site. Did you by any chance want a Mesa combo or a gorgeous vintage fretless Fender?

1st gig tonight since........................

Did the same thing myself back in 2006 after a 25 year gap! If you are well rehearsed it will be like putting on a pair of old slippers and from a few seconds in it will be a blast! Enjoy -

Prefer outright cash sale but would also entertain a part-ex against a Fender MIA, Sadowsky, or Fender-alike 5 string in black, oly white or 3TS. Depending on model could be cash adjustment from me. Alternatively a part-ex with cash my way for a Genz Shuttle 6.0 (and possibly an Orange Terror Bass, though not so sure as size is important here!)
Typical....you let us buy one for a grand then put yours up
Yeah, sorry tino. I only decided today after I gave the new arrival Orange valve amp a proper work-out last night. Your is a fetching custom shade of green though, whereas mine is boring black!

I have gone the big Orange valve amp + Barefaced light cab route (plus looking for an ultra-light backup amp). Thus, wonderful though this is, I am letting go my Mesa Walkabout 112 combo. Its about a year-and-a-half old, in very good condition, and comes with a cover I had custom made to protect it. You know the drill on these. Very loud (so loud I sold on the extension cab as I never needed it), very tube-y sounding, and a one-hand lift (50lbs). Looking for £700 picked up or meet-up in London. Not keen on shipping so will give preference to personal meet-up in London area (I live nr Hammersmith but occasionally drive to work nr Liverpool St). PS, Bass Gallery are listing these at £1,349 special order - ie, this is about half new price
Thinking about it though, if it is just a back up amp, it is what it is. Its just there "in case". Chances are the AD200 will not ever let you down.
I was thinking too that if its just there "in case", then why not go a cheap and small option - the Genz 3.0 seems to tick most boxes, other than grit and heavy lows, plus its attracting the most votes. One BC'er has one FS at £250 and I'm thing how can I go wrong with this? With any luck the Orange won't fail anyway. Would be peeved to spend £700 on LM Rocker only to never use it!
welcome to the club!! Is yours tweetered?
I'm too scared to take off grill cloth in case I screw something up! There's no dial on the back if thats a clue. I bought if off Doctorbass - he didn't mention a tweeter. However, I thought the Vintage was a 2x15 plain and simple, ie, no tweeter option????
I can't speak from experience but would think 300W through an efficient 2x15 would be loud enough for most gigs (the Vintage is 4ohms, right?)
It is 4 ohms, thanks!

Just bought a Barefaced Vintage cab off Mark, our second deal. Great cab, just gave it a quick play with my Orange valve amp and sounds wonderful. Great transaction as before. Cheers Mark!
