  1. Absolutely. In my blues band, virtually every song in our set plagiarises other songs we play 😁
  2. Lovely looking (and powerful) combo! Might be worth adding if postage is an option and if the combo comes with a cover? GLWYS
  3. Looking forward to playing Fiddler's Elbow, Camden on Friday. Onstage 8pm in case anyone fancies coming along. Expect rocking blues with tons of guitar solos and barely adequate bass playing 🤣

  5. 2nd attempt My Precision and SG basses: sticky toffee pudding and vanilla custard My Rick: a pointed stick
  6. I just practiced my band's 75 minute set for Friday's gig (Fiddler's Elbow, Camden) on this bass and it was soooooo easy. Its also very different from the Rick so - on reflection - I am going to keep both. WIthdrawn
  7. In case you were thinking of coming along, our onstage time is 8pm and we have a roughly 75minute set
  8. I bought this off eBay recently as a "rawk" replacement for my Rick but have decided to stick with the latter. So for sale is this amazingly good condition 2015 Gibson SG Standard Bass in Heritage Cherry. Usual 30.5" short scale and weighs a super light, shoulder friendly 7.5 pounds. Note: 2015 was a special one for the SG bass as it came with a number of upgrades which have since been dropped, presumably for cost cutting reasons. These included a Babicz full contact bridge, thicker rosewood fretboard, limited edition gold case and pearl inlays. Pickup from SW13 London (south of Hammersmith Bridge) or post at cost (UK only) via UPS (probably about £30). Comes with case and case candy (certificate of authenticity, case key, truss rod wrench, factory photo, warranty card etc.) Currently wearing Dunlop flats but I can swap out for the stock nickel rounds if you prefer. Firm price of £850, which is what it owes me, and no trades, sorry.
  9. Well, 30 minutes work and the bezel is on along with TI Jazz rounds. Lets see ...
  10. On reflection, I am withdrawing my 4003S from sale and will give it some more time to see if I can bond with the bass. I should fit the bridge pickup bezel and see how that works for me before making hasty decisions
  11. On reflection, I am going to persevere with this bass and maybe fit the bezel to see if I can bond with it. Withdrawing
  12. Gratuitous intro to Flashing Blade
  13. Yep, playing the 4003S at home - when I wrote those words - was rather different to the one gig I played with it. It (the ergonomics) just didn't quite sit right with me and, having played Fender Ps and Js primarily for decades, I am conceding defeat! Edit: I still preferred the 4003S to the slab bodied 4003. Shame but as the Flashing Blade said "Its better to have fought and lost than never fought at all"
  14. Here is BassDirect advert from January with more spec and pics: https://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Rickenbacker_4003S_Jetglo.html
  15. Bought new from BassDirect in January 2022, its a 2021 edition 4003S (meaning vintage style knobs and unvarnished fretboard) in almost flawless jetglo. Its still in exceptional condition: if I am being picky there are a couple of tiny, basically unphotographable (its a word) shallow indentations/blips in the finish, otherwise it looks brand new. Also, for full disclosure, the jack socket is quite tight so the bass lead needs to be pushed in quite hard to 'click' or remove (simple 2 minute fix to ease spring for those who are inclined, I couldn't be bothered as it works fine and actually made me feel more secure when playing.) Weighs 4.2kg/9.4 pounds Will be sold with original hard shell case plus a Rickysounds pickup surround bezel (£45) which I have never got around to fitting, for those who don't want the chrome pickup cover (seemingly the vast majority). My all-in cost was a fraction under £2150 including bezel surround. New prices now seem to be £2250-2499. So £1850 including bezel seems a decent price to me, excluding postage. Pickup from SW13 London preferred (south of Hammersmith Bridge) but will post within the UK using UPS at cost (probably around £30). No non-UK sales, sorry. No trades thanks. Reason for sale is, though its cool AF, I am more comfortable with an FSO (Fender-shaped object).
  16. This looks like the spec from Alan's website. GLWYS https://www.acguitars.co.uk/project/0309krell4-2/
  17. I volunteer to replicate this medical procedure, Jack. I have a light touch and a collection of safety pins and knitting needles that I am sure could be put to good use
  18. I remain dumbfounded by the thumb rest below the strings. The prior owner must have had a very particular and unusual style of playing. Or never played the low B string
  19. I also suspect the hands of Vinnie Fodera never went near any of that bass. If Fodera saw that on eBay I bet they would demand it be taken down, if only as its damaging to the brand
  20. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124919206170?hash=item1d15c3d11a:g:OPkAAOSworBhTxs8 Particularly unusual touch is the thumb rest UNDER the strings
