  1. Voila: "Injection Molded ABS Plastic, plated in copper, nickel and real chrome, creates a stiff exoskeleton with a brilliant and durable finish." https://www.thetreblebezel.com/
  2. If you play a Rick you will know what these are. A drop in replacement for part of the bridge pickup assembly which allows you to (a) do away with the pretty but useless hand rest (b) do so without risk of your picking hand falling in to the sharp edged 'hole' surrounding the pickup and (c) while providing a neat built in thumb rest. I am only selling as I bought two, one with raised thumb rest, one with a thumb 'cove' (inset/hollow thumb rest). I prefer the latter. This was £46 new from Rickysounds, so £33 posted seems fair. PS, first 3 pics of the for sale item, pic number 4 is a stock photo to show how it looks in situ
  3. I knew immediately that (1) black P bass and (2) playing punk = @Lozz196 😀 Enjoy Lozz!!!!
  4. Greater love hath no man for a woman ... I have just sat through the first two episodes of the Sex in the City reboot. "And just like that" with Mrs C. This is not bass related but I felt the need to share my pain

Update (because I know you are all desperately interested):  I was obliged to spend a chunk of my Friday evening watching episode 3. Thoroughly enjoyable .... in that it was a fantastic hour spent surfing the web on my mobile phone.

  5. Back up with trade option (AVRI 62 Precision) and lower bargain price (£1500). Sale much preferred as I do already have several other basses .... but it looks like trades are easier at this time of year In response to a PM, I have all the amps/cabs etc I need, so the only trade is for an AVRI P bass (I would contribute some extra cash if a Fullerton early 80s, alternatively its a straight trade for a good condition light post Fullerton AVRI) PS, swapped strings again (I am an inveterate tinkerer) and the bass is now wearing D'Addario 45-100 nickel rounds.
  6. Very nice, don't often see black/tort combo. Might be worth adding wright before someone asks
  7. Update: my 4003 didn't sell on eBay (very few watchers) and has had no interest on FB market place (despite handy discount), so I am going to give it some more time and try to get used to the bass.
  8. Nice work Nick, looks great
  9. Safer to buy one of the more recent reissues (BCer Paul King has/had one). This is similar to the model played by Howlin Wolf, now sold as the K162, and played by some famous players, eg Sheryl Crowe (who makes it look enormous!)
  10. Hi there its a Takamine TB10. An archtop acoustic/electric bass that can also be played on a stick. See this thread below
  11. These Rolf Spuler originals are amazing basses and the wood on that is the finest figuring I have seen on an AFR. GLWYS!
  12. Withdrawing this as - on reflection and further playing time - I think it will be a useful backup to my Jazz bass ... especially having gone through a disappointing experience with a brand new R*ck (see other threads). This feels and sounds close enough to a slimmer-necked P bass to keep me happy. Apologies for those who were interested
  13. I don't think so, a new bass should be good to go in my view (especially a >£2k bass like a Rick), not the starting point for extra spends and modding. In any case the slab edges and heavily varnished rear of the neck are not to my taste either. I just made a mistake
  14. Thats a part, but also I cannot get my right hand comfy either with a pick or fingerstyle due to bridge mute screws and the design of the bridge pickup. By comparison, to me a Jazz or P bass is just like a pair of old slippers
  15. Its beyond the distance selling date anyway so I will just try and sell through the usual (non BC!) channels
  16. Well, partly inspired by this thread - and thinking that the likes of Squire, Lee, Macca etc couldn't be wrong - I bought a new jetglo 4003 (2021 edition with unvarnished fretboard). Sadly it just doesn't sit right with me ergonomically - unfortunately I modded the bridge pickup with the Tube Ampology thumb rest bezel that most Rick users seem to do (from Rickysounds) and this of course invalidated my ability to send it back to the retailer. Its only 1 month old! Gah, live and learn. EBay it is
  17. It is gutting. Persuaded myself against my better judgment that the likes of Squire, Lee, Macca etc couldn't be wrong but it just doesn't sit right with me - unfortunately I modded the bridge pickup with the thumb rest bezel that most Rick users seem to do and this of course invalidated my ability to send it back to the retailer.
