  1. Very nice, don't often see black/tort combo. Might be worth adding wright before someone asks
  2. Update: my 4003 didn't sell on eBay (very few watchers) and has had no interest on FB market place (despite handy discount), so I am going to give it some more time and try to get used to the bass.
  3. Nice work Nick, looks great
  4. Safer to buy one of the more recent reissues (BCer Paul King has/had one). This is similar to the model played by Howlin Wolf, now sold as the K162, and played by some famous players, eg Sheryl Crowe (who makes it look enormous!)
  5. Hi there its a Takamine TB10. An archtop acoustic/electric bass that can also be played on a stick. See this thread below
  6. These Rolf Spuler originals are amazing basses and the wood on that is the finest figuring I have seen on an AFR. GLWYS!
  7. Withdrawing this as - on reflection and further playing time - I think it will be a useful backup to my Jazz bass ... especially having gone through a disappointing experience with a brand new R*ck (see other threads). This feels and sounds close enough to a slimmer-necked P bass to keep me happy. Apologies for those who were interested
  8. I don't think so, a new bass should be good to go in my view (especially a >£2k bass like a Rick), not the starting point for extra spends and modding. In any case the slab edges and heavily varnished rear of the neck are not to my taste either. I just made a mistake
  9. Thats a part, but also I cannot get my right hand comfy either with a pick or fingerstyle due to bridge mute screws and the design of the bridge pickup. By comparison, to me a Jazz or P bass is just like a pair of old slippers
  10. Its beyond the distance selling date anyway so I will just try and sell through the usual (non BC!) channels
  11. Well, partly inspired by this thread - and thinking that the likes of Squire, Lee, Macca etc couldn't be wrong - I bought a new jetglo 4003 (2021 edition with unvarnished fretboard). Sadly it just doesn't sit right with me ergonomically - unfortunately I modded the bridge pickup with the Tube Ampology thumb rest bezel that most Rick users seem to do (from Rickysounds) and this of course invalidated my ability to send it back to the retailer. Its only 1 month old! Gah, live and learn. EBay it is
  12. It is gutting. Persuaded myself against my better judgment that the likes of Squire, Lee, Macca etc couldn't be wrong but it just doesn't sit right with me - unfortunately I modded the bridge pickup with the thumb rest bezel that most Rick users seem to do and this of course invalidated my ability to send it back to the retailer. Its only 1 month old! Gah, live and learn. EBay it is
  13. Best: 1982 Fullerton Jazz bass in 3TS - wonderful thing Worst: R*ck 4003 (2021 edition in jetglo) - looks cool AF but I just can't get used to ergonomics and can't even sell the damn thing on BassChat!
  14. Don't need to look far for the original concept (*cough* Stanley Clarke) https://www.guitarworld.com/news/stanley-clarke-releases-long-awaited-strat-style-bass-the-spellcaster
  15. Think this beauty should have a bump - also, a quick compliment on your nice playing on Cosmic Girl, wot, not seen you grooving like that before - suits you sir
  16. You would have thought a masterbuilt instrument could use selected woods that kept the weight down. This one weighs close to 10 pounds which would rule me (and plenty of others) out, irrespective of the price Edit: its out of stock now, ie sold. So there you go!

    Feedback for Aero71

Marinus bought a nice old 71 P bass from me and the whole transaction was flawless (apart from customs delaying delivery to him). I would have no hesitation whatsoever dealing with Marinus again, friendly comms, quick payment, all good! ATB Clarky
