  1. Had an interested viewer but he decided he wanted more valve Watts and so @wateroftyne I may have scored your pal at Handbox a potential new order for a WB100 in the coming weeks. Upshot is this beauty is still for sale!
  2. This is similar, in my opinion, to a Fender 62 reissue scratchplate (which costs an eye watering £77 at Thomann). Happy with a near offer
  3. Agreed, I was the temporary owner of this amazing bass. Phenomenal quality for buttons. Not something Brother Jones will want to hear but probably the best value for money in the whole Basses for sale forum
  4. Like @Bilbo I had the first Def Leppard single on Bludgeon Riffola, although I am sure it was 'Get your rocks off' with 'Riding into the Sun' as B side. I also saw Iron Maiden fronted by Paul DiAnno at the Marquee (supported by the awful Praying Mantis) and had a demo single of 'Prowler'. With my NWOBHM quality threshold on low, I also had Fist's 'Name Rank and Serial Number' single. Moving swiftly on ... Other memorable moments: like @Frank Blank I saw SPK, although this time supporting Throbbing Gristle at Heaven in Charing Cross - at one point TG's video showed a scrotum (animal I recall, like a goat) being slit and a testicle dropping out. Nice; buying Noel Gallagher a pint at the bar at the Toxic Twin Towers gig c.20 years ago and failing to offer my bass services, despite the recent departure from Oasis of Guigsy; having a quick chat with Greg Lake after a charidee do c15 years ago where he played 'Lucky Man' and discovering that he didn't sound ANYTHING like a choirboy when speaking; standing behind Nick Cave in the queue at a parent teacher conference (our eldest sons each went to same school in London) and also failing to say anything at all
  5. Guy Pratt's old R*ck 4001 - as played on the live screening of the Saucerful of Secrets gig from the Roundhouse - sounded great and IMHO beat his collection of Fenders, Bass Collection and Warwick. Sacrilege around here but there you go!

Hard to beat a good Rick (equally that should be hard to find!)

  6. Well I just watched the live screening of the Saucerful of Secrets gig at the Roundhouse and I am sorry to say Guy Pratt mainly played an old R*ck 4001 and it sounded great. He did play the BC Betsy bass, plus a modern US Precision, an old Gold (or stained natural) Precision and a Warwick Buzzard (thankfully one song only) and they all sounded great. But the R*ck was more driving 🤔
  7. Speaking of ... flippin 'eck bassists. Adam Ben Ezra
  8. Self-employed consultant to the pharmaceutical industry and Board member of two health charities (Malaria Consortium; Prostate Cancer Research Centre)
  9. Night time pics. For full disclosure, as you can see, the top is quite 'printed' looking and lacks the depth of genuine 60/70s tort even though its made of celluloid. I guess that makes it very similar to a modern Fender reissue tort plate.
  10. This arrived today but - since ordering it last week - I have had a change of heart and decided to keep my JV Precision completely original. Link: https://www.rebelrelic.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=18_45_135&product_id=1228 I paid about £60 including delivery. My loss is your gain so take it off my hands for £40 posted. Pics to follow when I have natural daylight
  11. Lovely - I have posted a link to this on Alembic forum http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=25318.0
  12. A video review on YT - slap for first couple of mins but moves into fingerstyle at around 2:10

    Mustangs!

Wrong bridge, upper horn looks truncated and a bit squared, split coil rather than single coil pickup, headstock a disaster. Looks like someone tried to make a copy of a Mustang in a woodwork class. Avoid
  14. One10 is what I had as my cab when I used the Elf. Great in my Americana band with electric and fretless bass, not so good when I wheeled out the double bass

    Better pic of my '71
  16. Erm, and repeat! All good
  17. Sold John an Elf (the amp) and all went swimmingly. Good stuff!!!
  18. Just received a Tecamp Puma from Paul. Fast delivery, well packed (the amp), friendly comms. Top stuff!
  19. I share your pain. Ciara and Dennis had my roof leaking like a sieve 😔

    Oldman Feedback

Sold a compressor pedal to Brian and all was good!
  21. Beautiful bass Nick. My Mustang has converted me to short scale. All the bottom end but so much easier to play than a regular 34" (IMHO)
