  1. Basses are worth what people will pay for them, which reflects multiple factors, just like any consumer good. Jimmy Coppolo has a great reputation as a luthier (even though there has been the odd QC issue, as Paulie noted - in fact I owned one of the basses he mentioned and should note it was a prototype). His basses have a certain cache and strong advocates, as do Ken Smith's, Foderas, Alembics and do on. I mean, is a used Wal really worth £5k? Different strokes for different folks. All of which is stating the obvious! As Jack says, maybe try playing one? They are very nice instruments indeed. I don't own one any more but I would also (like Jack) love to have another play on the antigua KBP5 we each owned at one point (I sold it to pay for a double bass)
  2. And of course, in true BassChat fashion, I will probably buy the Evah Slap E and A off @Happy Jack in the unlikely event he doesn't get on with them, lol!
  3. Now wearing some rather nice thumpy D'Addario black nylon tapewound strings
  4. Please get a bandana, Jack
  5. Absolute best price £820 posted with UPS standard and chouce of flat or round strings.
  6. Hey Lozz, wait til you pick up a Mustang or similar short scale!!!! Has similar low end to a Precision but the short scale makes playing it effortless - and its a lot of fun at home as its less cumbersome than a 34" scale bass, which makes me pick mine up more
  7. Hi there as you can see from nut width photo its slimmer than a 60s P. Also its relatively shallow front to back, not chunky. So I would say its kind of half way between a J and a 'regular P'.
  8. Afraid one has to go, if only for financial reasons!
  9. Doesn't everyone eat asparagus? 😁
  10. The promised daylight pictures (with chrome covers reinstalled)
  11. Here's some taken just now (night time with flash)
  12. Proper daylight pics coming tomoz!
  13. BTW, I can swap for a nearly new set of Pyramid Gold flats (which will last for years!) for old school thump and the bass comes with both chrome covers
  14. Love this bass, keep coming back to look. I assume its this one from BassDirect, which has more pics to salivate over https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Serek_Midwestern_TV_Yellow.html
  15. Well I do have 3 other basses (51P, Mustang, Alembic), 2 fretless basses and a double bass, so I will not be running out of options!
  16. I really like this bass but I only need one Precision and I have decided to stick with my '51 CS. Plus the money would come in handy, so no trades. You will be hard pushed to find another surf green 70RI Precision in the UK. Good condition with a few little nicks and abrasions here and there, nothing major, and you can see there was once a circular sticker on the pickguard if you hold it up to the light (it's barely visible and I didn't notice it for weeks). Weighs a smidgeon over 9 pounds, plays very smoothly with hybrid coated EB nickel Slinkies on. Only has a soft gigbag but will be safely packed in bubble wrap and cardboard. £750 plus post in UK My NBD thread with pics I bought it from Gas Station Guitars at the start of May but the advert has disappeared (apologies I linked to another ad of theirs)... I will add more pictures of my bass on Sunday Addendum: Guitar Info Your guitar was made at the Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan), Japan in 1997 - 2000 Production Number: 92969
  17. Lovely bass and nice playing! I have a '72 Mustang and these are fun instruments to play
  18. Stunning bass that was made for me. Lovely and light (despite dense chocolatey cocobolo facing)and plays effortlessly. GLWTS Frank
  19. Very good price, shame the seller is a Man Utd fan
