1. Hi Dave, I own an SA450 and it's a superb amp. Warm, full sounding... I play an old Fender P bass, a couple of hollowbodies and Lakland jazz basses and they all sound warm, fat and natural through this amp. I used to use an LMII as well and that was a very warm sounding amp. The LMIII will be the same but improved! All the best, Steve
2.
However, I do need the money at the moment, so if someone does offer the asking price.....
Spent too much on fireworks eh? Lovely little rig this, has real Ampeg warmth and an all round lovely tone.
3.
Your music room looks alarmingly like mine. We'd probably get on well. Good luck with the lessons. Stuart
Also, I used to live in the West Country (Taunton) and shop at Mansons in Exeter. It's almost like we're two halves of the same bass player Thanks for the kind words! Steve
4. Monday morning/lunchtime lesson slots available.
5.
That sounds quite contary to the term Bass Day
Acoustic (as in double) bass!
6.
I don't know sounds difficult to create 12 hours of slappity poppity fury dead loud on DB
Hopefully it would be too difficult to create that kind of racket and we could hear some nicely played acoustic action instead
7. Hi, I use a David Gage Realist or Fishman Full Circle combined with an SD systems LCM100 bridge-mounted mic into a Radial PZ-Pre acoustic preamp pedal. This goes into a Markbass SA450 and Bergantino HT112. The most natural sound is with the Fishman Full-Circle and the mic gives a bit of extra presence. the Radial pedal allows you to blend the two input signals and EQ/notch filter the blended output. The blend can then be sent to the desk via a balanced XLR (pre or post EQ) DI output. The Markbass SA450 and the Bergantino cabinet give a very warm and natural sound. Hope this helps. Steve
8. Superb bass. Buy with confidence!
9. Or not!
10. I've got all those books except for the Neil Tarlton one, Mark. Plenty of scales for you to enjoy ^_^
11. Talk about derailing a thread!
12.
I much prefer that to anything orange...good job.
I agree... my own Michael Poller is too orangey for my liking but what can you do? Oh, you can sand it down and make it look lovely! Nice work!
13.
Probably the first time it's been played without nonsensical widdling.
?

15. Nice bass, nice collection of jazz books. You've got more jazz books than my local Waterstones! Lovely.
16. Excellent bass and a great concept for the travelling bassist. It looks and sounds like a proper double bass because it IS a proper double bass!!
17. I bought a bow-quiver (for double bass not archery!) from Daf a few weeks ago. It arrived within a day and was in beautiful condition. Thanks Daf!
18. Sounds fantastic Ben.
19. Great. I played a bass in Germany in December after the neck snapped off my bass due to the extreme cold weather. The bass I played had a full-circle pickup and a set of Evah's (although not sure exactly which ones) and sounded lovely. Very natural sounding in the mix and comfortable to play.
20. Thanks very much. Like 'em a lot. Nice and warm but can still get some growl out of them. I'm having a Fishman Full-Circle installed right now so can't wait to try that combination. The David Gage has a huge bottom so am wanting to compare that to the Fishman.
21. Me on bass Saturday 22nd May 2010 ... Innovation Honeys, Gage Realist, HD systems LCM100 mic, Markbass amp and Bergantino HT112 cabinet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anAFytkTvrs
22. This used to be my bass. It's very comfortable and has a lovely smooth feel to the neck. I replaced the Kent Armstrong pickups to Bartolinis, and the East BTB circuit with the Sadowsky preamp with VTC and had the scratchplate made by Martin at The Gallery in Camden. A lovely, lovely bass to own. Good luck with the sale Mark!
23. TPJ what pickup and amplification do you use?
24. Congratulations Mike!
