A really funky, syrupy envelope-controlled phaser from Pigtronix. These were discontinued some years ago and really don’t up come often. I spent 5 years searching but after finally getting one, I find my Source Audio C4 does an excellent emulation. This is in very good condition overall with only slight cosmetic issues with the decals. Unfortunately there is no original box but will be well packaged for shipping. Also, this requires an 18v power supply. Any questions, please feel free to ask.

Chase Bliss make truly wonderful pedals and this is no exception. They describe this chorus/vibrato as being full of ‘ooey, gooey analogue goodness’ and it certainly is. As a traditional chorus, it has a lovely warmth and as vibrato, it can get very wobbly. Zack Rizer does a fantastic overview and demo of how great it sounds on bass: More information from the Chase Bliss website: https://www.chasebliss.eu/warped-vinyl-hifi This example is in excellent condition. I would describe it as mint if it weren’t for the velcro attached. It also includes the original box which is also in mint condition. Chase have ceased production of the Warped Vinyl so this may become increasingly rare in the future. My reason for selling is that my wife very kindly surprised me with another chorus pedal from Walrus Audio and it’s too much to have two fantastic pedals that make very similar sounds; sentiment wins the day…although truth be told I prefer the Chase Bliss. This is the most recent Hifi version that includes some very tasteful and useful changes from previous iterations including a tone knob that can push the high end or add even more warmth. HiFi also has several other improvements over previous versions of Warped Vinyl, including a lag knob for lush chorus tones, reduced noise, and opportunities for more transparent and brighter sounds. Price includes shipping. Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Sandberg Bass the World Edition - *SOLD*

My move to exclusively playing short scales continues and this one will likely hurt. This is the last long scale I own and ended my search for THE passive jazz bass. Sandberg make great instruments but this California TT Bass the World edition is really something special. The vintage-voiced Kloppman ‘64 pickups that come as stock with these special edition basses elevate it to a growly, grindy funk machine. This example is from early 2024 and in ‘as new’ condition except some swirling on the pick guard. It also comes with all the case candy including original hang tags! Full spec below including weight but first some video and pictures - A short video of the actual bass for sale: This is possibly the most recorded bass on YouTube with Gregor from Bass the World regularly featuring this edition on the Bass the World demo videos. I’ve selected a few videos below but there are dozens more on the Bass the World YouTube channel! Price includes shipping across the UK. I will also ship in new Thomann hardcase which should offer the protection needed. I can also give the original Sandberg soft case if collecting in person. You are also welcome to pop by to try the bass out if local to Reading or I’m happy to meet up in London. Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! Full specs below: Construction:Bolt-on Weight: 3.9kg Scale:34″ Body:European Ash Neck:Maple Fretboard:Maple Frets:22 Pickups:Kloppmann JB61, Creme Covers Electronics:Passive Tuners:Sandberg Bridge:Gotoh Vintage Style Finish:Black Matte Strings: Dadarrio Nickel 40-100 Finally, I also have a Basschat feedback topic. And finally and finally, I’ve also put together a curated playlist with lots more sound demos. I will add more as I find them:

Will be keen to hear your thoughts on this. I have another MF-101 clone by Triungulo but - just like the Moog - the drive section is always active even in bypass. This Past Fx is interesting to me because it does it away with that ‘feature’ and has a master volume.

I’ve been perplexed by the price increase on these in the last year or so. I bought two sets for £35 each when they were first released. It’s actually cheaper to buy directly from Amazon in the US. And I’ve bought things directly from Amazon US and always had a smooth transaction. They also offer free international returns which I’ve used before. Even with customs and shipping, the total landed cost for the flats is £62.05! -
This is really cool. Shame about Chase having to limit sales due to EU/UK regulations on the particular component they use. It was also unfortunate that they are discontinuing some of their range like the Warped Vinyl for the same reason. Hopefully, things will change or this will pop up on the used US market further down the line.

Chris’ work is not widely known about in the UK compared to Ireland and the rest of Europe. I never understood why. So it’s not surprising that those instruments didn’t gather as much attention at the auction compared to - by your account - a bitsa Fender and sub Stingray! Someone has posted on the Chris Larkin Owner's Facebook. It seems they bought the single cut you were bidding on as well as the 6-string fretless! They are very pleased with both. I dread think what I might have done if I had been at the auction….possibly have walked away with all seven!! Haha! If any of those instruments come up for sale again, I’d definitely say have another look….although you might have to fend off me!!
-
Thanks for sharing what you noticed about the condition. I’ll be keeping an eye out for when some of these instruments come back up for sale and having a general sense about the condition will be helpful. Thanks also for sharing the final auction price. The curiosity got the better of me so I subscribed to the Price Guide. It’s seems that the final sale price for all seven of the Larkins were between £600-£750. In my twenty years of searching for used instruments, those are some the biggest bargains I’ve ever seen. Whoever did manage to get one got an incredibly special instrument for a fraction of its actual value. I notice that someone who bought the Larkin EUB at the auction for £700 is now listing it on eBay for £3500. I think that is a little optimistic but shows how undervalued these instruments were at auction!
-
I know the time has passed but do you recall seeing some of the Chris Larkin instruments and what the condition was? These would have been the most valuable instruments of the whole auction.
-
I’ve just come across this thread now. Always sad to learn about any passing. Whilst some of the listings were over valued, some were significantly undervalued. Del had a long relationship with the luthier Chris Larkin and five of Chris’ instruments were included in that auction, including some truly one off custom pieces made just for Del by Chris Larkin. I would have valued those Chris Larkin instruments at £1k-£2k per item with the lower valuation being very very conservative. The auction value was an average of £300-£500. I think that’s a bit worrying for the family if the auction house was putting those kind of valuations on instruments of that quality. Does anyone have access to the final selling price for the Chris Larkins? I may subscribe to the Price Guide just to find out but thought I’d ask here beforehand. I really hope for the family that any of the Larkins went for at least £1k

New Source Audio pedal - ARTIFAKT Lo-fi Elements
HoorayForAnonyms replied to Quatschmacher's topic in Effects
We’re a few days out from the release and having weighed up the evidence I’m prepared to throw my hat into the ring. I’m predicting….. a multi-modulation a la the GFI Synethesia. An envelop filter is technically a modulation effect, right? @Quatschmacher Raise one eyebrow for yes, two for no….. -
Oh absolutely, the original will definitely hold its value. It also just looks cool!

I've always wanted to try the Meatball regardless of how massive and impractical the enclosure is! Haha! Thanks for the write-up Ped. Even at a bargain price, I don't think I'll ever stretch to owning one so we can live vicariously through you. Has anyone ever come across the FTELECTRONICA clone of the Meatball. I wonder how close it gets? I also don't mean to steal your new pedal day, Ped! Congrats on the find! https://www.ftelettronica.com/product/envelope-follower-triggered-filter/

I think the phrase, ‘I've no idea what it does but I want one’ sums up my last three pedal purchases…..and I couldn’t be happier. And I don’t know what this does either but it’s a cyberpunk edition; so you neeeeeeed it! Haha!

Yes it did about a week ago. First impressions are somewhat mixed. It does produce a dark and warm sound as you might expect from a 6-stage analogue phaser. However, I’m finding that overall it is rather subtle and despite being able to adjust a number of parameters, the actual impact is surprisingly minimal. I haven’t been able to produce a deep phase effect despite spending considerable time with a looper and making micro adjustments. Perhaps that is just the overall character of the circuit. Further exploration is needed. It’s been a few years since I actually had time with the MF-103 but I do recall that it wasn’t subtle and produced a rich deep phase. There are some shortcomings that, whilst minor, are worth mentioning. Firstly, the clipping indicator light has been moved internally - as opposed to it being external on the MF-103. It is only visible from an angle and is quite dim which requires me to cup my hands around it to see when it moves from green to clipping. It is supposedly tricolour but because it’s recessed so far inside the pedal, it’s only possible to make out green and red. It really should have been mounted externally or omitted entirely. Secondly, the range of rate control is wide but doesn’t offer the same level of fine-grained adjustment the MF-103 has with its additional range selector switch. This could have easily been included on the Pearl and something that the JFX version has retained. Finally, the pedal defaults to on when powered up and you need to turn it off at the start of each session. I have only one other pedal that does this and that’s the EBS Uni-chorus. It’s somewhat annoying. I do wonder how accurate a clone this might be. My only reference at the moment is the MF-103 plug-in and while there are some similarities in the general character, adjusting certain parameters on the plug-in - like frequency - yield very different results when similar adjustments are made on the Pearl. It might well be that it is the plug-in that is very different from the original MF-103. Overall, it is certainly not a bad sound and I haven’t spent enough time yet to conclude whether it will end my analogue phaser search. Im trying to find somewhere to rent a MF-103 for a direct comparison but I don’t know how successful that will be. In the meantime, I did manage to find a Mu-Tron Bi-Phase II circa 2020 for a sensible sum at a Cashconverters of all places! I’ll be picking it up from the post office tomorrow. I plan to do a direct comparison this weekend alongside my trusted EBS phaser along with your @quatschmacher Phase 90 and Orbit C4 patches. A battle of the phasers! Coincidentally, a video was released today demoing the Pearl on guitar. It’s the only demo released so far. compared to the JFX demos, the Triungulo sounds a little underwhelming.

The original has been a staple on Paul Turner’s board for the last couple of years. He recently switched to the Doom 2. He’s spoken about using the Doom 1 on some Jamiroquai songs and with his own band Trioniq. Both great examples of the Doom used subtly within a mix by itself and paired with an enveloped filter. He confirmed the Doom 1 was used on Vitamin: And on a Trioniq song called Drunkin’ Funkin’ in combination with Mu-Tron: https://www.facebook.com/TRIONIQ/videos/4158498540916159/?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v -
Um…..I have 5. According to your formula, I need one more. Haha!
-
Just reread your original post and wanting a more board friendly version of the Mu-FX. The OC-5 would be my revised recommendation. Most octave pedals that offer an octave up are polyphonic and the -1 sound has a very different quality to the Mu-Fx and OC-1 monophonic sound. The OC-5 has it all covered! The MXR Poly Blue Octave would also have you covered.
-
I tried out a few octave up/down pedals and settled on the Walrus Audio Luminary. It has a low pass filter that helps with removing some of the more harsh, abrasive qualities of the octave up. The tracking is incredible! Heres a quick clip I recorded to show the tracking accuracy https://on.soundcloud.com/A8gqwWvrEmiwiiSg7

3Leaf Audio Proton £100 *REDUCED* - *SOLD*
HoorayForAnonyms replied to HoorayForAnonyms's topic in Effects For Sale
I think the prices on Reverb are ridiculously over inflated and wonder when they do sell, if they are actually sold at the original asking prices? This being an earlier version of the filter might also be a factor and not as sought after? It’s still a really nice filter but the latest version is definitely a step-up. Hopefully it will go soon.
