1. I'm here boys.....when do you want to bring your 110/210's round..?? I have a new rig as well now... D.
2. If you don't want the Hercules, get a String Swing CC01K. Just over a tenner from your local music shop (remember them?). D.
3. Welcome back man! Never did get that Jazz bass made for me..... D.
4. I'll take this please. PM me with payment details and I'll sort it tomorrow. cheers D.
5. Warmoth do something like this called the 72 p bass. warmoth 72 p bass
6. To add: the Ultimate Support bag looks like excellent value for money.. D.
7. In what way would it make you happier..? I have one of the posh Stagg bags as well as a TGI Extreme, but when the bass is zipped up in the Contego, there is no sideways movement, so a strap is going to do exactly feck all. Hard cases don't have neck straps, and the Contego is more like a soft hard case. I can't comment on the others apart from the Stagg/TGI, and the Contego is in a different league entirely. It's very rigid around the edge of the bag, and that's what separates if from a lot of the others - although some of the more expensive ones are similar I believe. Good luck on whatever you choose, just trying to explain my own reasons for recommending the Contego. D.
8. I have a Protec Contego that my Ray34 goes in and it's a brilliantly good fit. Never felt the need to use the neck strap thing on any gig bag that's had one... D.
9. You may also want to consider an active preamp such as a John East or an Audere for the J bass. Both will allow you to dial in certain frequencies, esp. the mids.... D.
10. If it's for a contact type transducer as previously suggested, then bees wax is also an option. D.
11. The Gotoh's are marginally lighter, but I prefer the Hipshots. Both are quality machine heads and you can't go wrong with either.... D.
12. Ah, this brings back memories......although I never owned one, or even seen one in the flesh, I always dreamed about owning one of these back in the 80's. I almost bought an ex Derek Forbes Dynachord 1x15 bass combo in Sound Control Edinburgh around that time........I've just realised I've been playing for quite some time and I'm still sh*t! D.
13. I have a SPB3 if you fancy a trade....PM if interested. D.
14. That is bloody beautiful! AND very nicely put together. D.
15. Interested. What's your best price posted? D.
16. Set up my 350X and my 2 Yamaha BBT210 cabs at rehearsal tonight and it sounded mighty fine, I tell ye! Dare I say, it sounded better than my gigging rig for the mood I was in tonight, much grittier. Nowhere near as loud though. If I had the cash, I'd be looking at the 900 or whatever it is in the classifieds....... D.
17. You didn't have a knot in your speaker cable, did you........? D.
18. You might do well to look at the Eich 115XS cabs. Not that much bigger or heavier than a typical lightweight 12 and lighter than most others. Has a hi-freq driver rather than a tweeter and that just makes it sound amazing. There were 2 used Tecamp versions (previous generation) in the classifieds recently.... http://www.eich-amps.com/cms/content/115xs Here's mine:
19. It gives full power at 4 or 2 ohms so it doesn't matter, but I'd get a 4ohm cab to give the amp an easier life. You can always add another cab later if required..... D.
20. I use one of these in my practice set up and it rocks. £200 is just bloody stupid value for a USA made amp like this! As a first proper amp or a backup for someone, you can't do better at this price I'd say. D. PS - I don't know Davey at all...
21. Very nice work Alex, you've built Barefaced up over the years and it's all starting to get very exciting!! May you sell many more.. D.
22. To any of the regular and talented builders in this part of the parish, are any of you up for making a fretless neck for my Wal? I contacted Paul Herman ages ago about a neck, but it was prohibitively expensive, and with the waiting time, not a road I want to take. The Wal is a 1980 Mk1 custom lefty, currently fretted and since I play fretless 99% of the time now, instead of de-fretting it, which is something I could do myself, I thought about asking you guys if you'd like to do it. It would be an unlined (or partially unlined - lines on the edge?) with similar make up to the existing neck. I would pay for all costs inc. time, wood and parts etc. If I can't get this of the road, then I think I'll sell it as it's just not getting used as it is, which is a crying shame. When I do plug it in, it just makes me tingle - it's the sound! So, please feel free to reply and derail this thread all you want, as I'd be interested in everyones thoughts. cheers Deek. Ps - here's the bass in question
23. This is the neck on my 96 lefty Stingray. What a loverly bit of maple! g
24. The Ultimate or the similar K&M are very good. For a 6 string bass, you might want to look at a classical guitar stand. D.
