1.
Yes... still available. Had some significant interest but still early days. If anyone wants more pictures then send me your email address and I'll forward them.
I'll take this at the asking price - as long as you can ship it to me. I'll PM you my email address so you can send me more hi rez (as big as you can) pics. The wife has actually given the go-ahead on this one, and she may well be paying part of the cost (although I'll no doubt be paying for this for the rest of my life). If I manage to get this Wal, my Jaydee and my Ibanez will be for sale. cheers D.
  2. Is this still for sale??? D.
  3. Bargain. These really are great pedals - do exactly what they're designed to do and do it well. D.
  4.
Come on you lefty's make me an offer!
£70! D.
  5.
So it would seem you were able to swap/borrow a Retro try, but if that doesn't come to pass for any reason, I'd be happy to lend you one, in any case. As far as 'the moola' is concerned, if you look at my website, my returns policy allows for return within 7 days of receiving a unit for a full refund, less shipping (free in the UK), if you're not happy. So although you have to part with the moola stuff, I can get an internet purchase refunded at the touch of a button, so little risk to you. Cheers John
Hi john thanks for taking the time to respond. I didn't mean to insult you by saying that I might not like it - by all accounts it's an amazing bit of kit and the build quality is meant to be out of this world. If you're willing to lend me one, I'll take you up on this kind and generous offer. I'll drop you a PM in a minute. I've not been in touch with BB2000 yet, so I've not organised anything with him. cheers D.
  6.
SOLD! I SOLD IT! IT HAPPENED! WOW!
Well done that man - I was going to offer you a trade as well........... Could you mark the topic title as sold when you know it's definately sold? I think I remember Stapleton from my days playing guitar in Sawyer, am I right? cheers D.
  7. Pimp-tastic! I love it. Pitty it isn't a lefty! D.
  8.
I'd like to try the Audere, and have a J-Retro lying here - drop me a PM
Hey mate. PM on it's way. D.
  9.
What is it about the Audere you don't like? This clips on the Audere site sound quite nice. Does it have a passive bypass on it that still allows for PUP pan and tone control?
I DO like the Audere, I can have a bright, clangy MM sound or a deep reggae dub sound by flipping a switch and turning a few knobs (the bartolini's I have fitted help) - but would just like to try the J-retro. It doesn't have a passive bypass, so if the battery goes, so does your bass sound. However it does have the wonderful battery charge indicator, which informs you of the battery's state of charge when you plug a cable in. So you're unlikey have a battery go dead when gigging unless you plan to do a 10 hour stint..... D.
  10. Not sure if this is the right place or not, but I'd like to ask if there's any J-Retro users who currently don't have it fitted to a bass, who wouldn't mind contributing their specimen for a short term swap with my Audere jazz pre amp?? I like the Audere, it's very powerful, but I'd rather not spend the moola on a J-Retro just to try it and find I don't like it. Here's a pic of the Audere and a link to their website. cheers D.
  11. Mine sounds fine - a very mild buzz if any at all. Nothing to worry about (although I bought mine from SC before the silly prices appeared). D.
  12.
I think it makes more sense for a rack mount amp to be totally accesible from the front, without having to try and plug cables into the back every gig. Does that make sense ?
You do have to plug your speaker cables in remember....
P.S Thanks for the offer Derek, may take you up on that although fancy trying a LMII at some point as well
Anytime at all mate, but it'll have to wait a few weeks as I'm of to Thailand for an extended break. D.
  13. only one answer - get a pair of Tech 1x12 cabs. I love mine.... D.
  14. Eden Nemesis NA650 has 3 out of the 4 - the DI is on the back. Apart from that it's a beauty. Very loud and more tone shaping than anyone will need. Borrow mine anytime you want. D.
  15. Look for anything by Zion Train. BIIIIGGG bass! D.
  16. Just to let people know, I ordered a 16w/15m multicore from theloudest.com yesterday and it arrived today. Seems like a very well made piece of kit. I wanted the 30m version but they had no stock - I need it for this weekend. I've very impressed by the quality of the product and the service from the loudest. They even sent me a set of adapters they usually sell for 40 odd quid! some pics; I don't know how exited you can get about a piece of kit like this, but it's nice to see a well made product at an affordable price. D.
  17. And that lefty Ibanez was made in Dec '76. A fair old age. I just need to convince myself I don't want another one..... D.
  18.
Dunno why, but most of the old copies came in that unconvincing yellowy-pink fireglo, or maple. The only ones I can think of which were available in black were Ibanez. You could look out for a later Ibanez copy, which had "proper" Rick-style pickups rather than humbuckers - but they're even rarer than the type you already have. A guy who used to post on BW/BT (not sure if he came to ChaseBat) had a left-handed one. J.
That'll be me - and here it is - grubby finger prints and all; more pics here; http://www.pbase.com/deksawyer/ibanez_rickenbacker I've been here since the start but just lurk these days............ D.
  19. I'm looking at buying a 14/30m multicore for our bands live set up, but I'd like to hear opinions on the shortlist I've made. Cost is a factor so have settled to buy from either The Loudest or Audiospares. The Loudest seem slightly more expensive, but the product looks better. Any opinions on either of them? Do you have a friend who makes them?? Let me know. D.
  20. Found this old track of one of my bands, it's probably around 15 years old. Recorded with a Westone Thunder 1A and (i think) a Peavey TK0115 (could have been a Fender BXR300). The Twist - Blossoming Ahhh, the memories................ D.
  21.
'what's the point in having a lightweight head if you need to lug around two cabinets to get a reasonable volume out of it?'
No lugging 'round these parts!! D.
  22.
Anyone using a Yamaha 500 amp? I've been pleased with mine but want to use the midi switching facility to change sounds mid-song. Can you suggest a good foot controller/ switcher and how to use it. It'll probably become clear when I get one and plug it all together.
This might work; http://www.tech21nyc.com/midimouse.html D.
  23. Anyone seen those late night tv ads for Bentchat? Does it remind you of anything (Basschat)?? Maybe it's just me............. D.
