  1. Have to give a big shout out to the boys from Limehouse Lizzy, great lads and they do a great job, their Live and Dangerous tribute set is superb.
  2. Mr Grohl should stick to playing drums, and to answer the question of the poster, No.
  3. Bernard's two main recording basses were a black P Bass and a natural Stingray, on this track, a Ray. Later on in his career he also used a G&L (1000 I think ). The BC rich and a Sadowsky (later on) tended to be live basses.
  4. Total respect for your views and the fact that you shared a very tough and personal issue here with us on the net, total inspiration and a reminder that every day above the dirt is blessing, all the best. regards, Andrew.
  5. For me a Graphite neck is better, I also fly the flag for Status, WHY? Their necks are superbly crafted imho, and they stand up to my animalistic playing, when I play live I am giving it 100%, I have a heavy hand and my Graphite neck is rock solid and the tuning stability is for me second to none.
  6. Larry Graham/Greg Errico when in Sly and the Family stone. Phil Lynott and Brian Downey rather special imho. Frank Farley and Johnny Spence from the Pirates Rock N Roll at it's brutal best.
  7. 6 is a crock, but the rest I can go with.
  8. Hi, I was around in the 90's I am in the Cheltenham area, a rock player for sure! PM me with more details about the where, the what etc.. Have my own gear and transport (40 by the way) Regards, Andrew (Lynottfan)
  9. Pump it up, I love Bruce Thomas bass lines and this one just makes me smile every time I play it, it has a great bounce to it, a coupe of tricky moments and just fits the song so well, this man should be out there doing stuff, stunning player.
  10. Damn that Banana song is catchy!
  11. One other thing that I found useful was seek out a teacher, mine helped me work out the styles of the players who I wanted to be able to cover whilst breaking down the techniques used, the musical structures and the various nuances and signature approaches that they have in their playing. This in turn helped me be able to listen to a song better and break the parts down and get a decent take on the bass line. Now for a cover band if the bass riff is integral, you nail it, but putting your own spin on something I have no problem with, as your "covering" that song but it needs to work well, for a Tribute act you have to go for 100% some of the original band fans can be merciless! As for the Tab, if I need to work out something quick I will have a look, there are no hard and fast rules really, just go with what helps you get to learn the song in the easiest way.
  12. For gigging, 99% of the time always my Stingray, the other 1% is down to feeling guilty that I don't gig the other basses, but my Ray is just me.
  13. I love it because you "PLAY" music, and play is fun, therefore gigging is fun, yes there are the downsides, venue maybe poor, sound bad, lugging the gear, crap beer, little money, 3 people turn up, you make a load of mistakes, getting home late, but you still did the gig and at some point were applauded for your efforts, so for me gigging is great and I love, as even a bad gig is better than no gig at all.
  14. Nice one mate, there is no better feeling, hope something comes out of it for all of you.
  15. I have two Bass collections, The Lynott and da" Stick and they are superb, I have idea's a plenty to have a chat with Mr M about now then! Great looking bass you have there, as for the logo, I really like it, as for the snobs, well in the main they don't know jack! Nice one mate.
  16. The whole thing was an abortion frankly, Guthrie has to be the most amazing but boring guitar player going (very nice bloke, met him at Guitar Guitar and has monster chops, but man he bores flat in 2 minutes) As for the bass solo, wow, nice Bass Guitar, but what was he thinking?? It did however make me laugh at it, so in a way it conveyed some form of emotion like music should
  17. I have to say that Mr Moorhouse was very helpful to my Wife, she dealt with him to get me a Rhythm Stick bass before they were generally launched as a Christmas present last year, he sorted the order and helped her out with all the small details, and I must say that I use Lizzy bass as a backup and that is a nice machine, but the quality of the Rhythm stick is superb, you would easily pay £1000 or more from Fender for maybe comparable quality, they are that good. Nice to here that you are getting what you want from your bass, I am sure it will be very sweet for the money. Good to know about the possibility of tailoring the spec of a Bass collection, I would certainly be interested in that Also I like the bass collection logo with the thumbs.
  18. It was just as miserable as the Adele one, I hope the film's a damn sight better than this song. .
  19. They are well worth the visit, for a smallish shop they do have some nice pieces, I don't live that far away and its amazing how long it was took me to actually go there, but Mark is a sound bloke.
  20. You don't know any full songs My friend you are truly in for a baptism of fire!

  22. I would add a lot of artists that are now dead and that any old demo is being rehashed to sell, into the list here, so whilst the artist may have had a filter, it is a shame that those handling the legacy do not (Jimi Hendrix springs to mind big time here) Phil Lynott!!!! what?? Actually I can agree to retain extent lol. ~But Still a legend though!
  23. Nice sound to, very true to the Macca sound, your vid is good enough to be used as a guide to learning the song
  24. What are the songs you are most comfortable and feel the most confident about playing, First gig 250 people, It will be a hell of a buzz, so keep it simple and you will love it and wont be able to wait till you can get back on that stage, the first taste of applause is a mighty feeling. Good Luck and keep us posted.
  25. Baselines that are melodic are king, Likely to be Mr Jameson, so right how simple is best, and how a bass can be a beautiful melody instrument, you humming that line all the time. Motown book out, time to go Detroit crazy for the next few weeks, cheers for the inspiration !
