1. Yep, I'm finding that I'm spending more time with my good old-fashioned passive P and 4001 these days :-)
2. Plenty of Trace gear on the used market. Bomb proof and reliable (at least mine has been)
3. I've got mild tinnitus that I'm often not aware of unless there is almost silence. When I had a hearing test last year it showed no loss, thankfully. These days I never rehearse or gig withour my ACS ear protection. Not cheap but you can't put a price on your hearing. I used to use cheaper plugs like Alpine, which were ok but muffled everything too much.
4. Proud to say a big zero for our band :-)
5. Another 'if only I had the money' here .... :-(
6. Maybe I'm in a minority here on this one. I started playing in the early 70s when gear was all heavy and there wasn't really much other option. As I've grown up (chronologically) I've never expected gear to be anything other than heavy. Perhaps I'm just lucky that I don't have the aches and pains some people do and I have no problem carrying my old Trace 4x10 cab around.
7. I can't remember for sure but it was probably Robin Trower
8. Three of my Warwicks came with the recessed strap lock thingy so I don't have a lot of choice there unless I remove them. They haven't let me down yet, but I know some people here really don't like them. On my P I use those elliptical strap buttons which seem fine to me as long as they are positioned at 90 degrees to the strap hole when standing. My Rick has those cheapo Dunlop round clip things which have never failed either. I've tried the Schaller type locks a few times. They seem to do the job very well but I just can't get on with how far they stick out.
9. Only six, as shown below :-)
10. Well done - it'll soon feel completely natural in front of an audience and you'll be able to enjoy the buzz properly :-)
11. Jimi SRV Free Albert Collins Rainbow (with RJD) There must be loads more - this will be on my mind all evening now :-)
12. A very long time ago, Supertramp. In fairness it could be that they were ok but I found them so boring. Why did I go then? A couple of friends offered me a ticket if I gave them a lift so I thought it might be worth a look. Zzzzzzzzzzz ... Sham 69 back in the day were really bad, but quite entertaining.
13. Another vote for making a decent recording and and band listening to it together
14. Trace cab now sold locally. Good luck getting another 'Berg :-)
15. ".... just a set of organised vibrations, known as music" (Steve Hillage - Saucer Surfing)
16.
Thanks everybody, food for thought. Perhaps I need to start saving...
That would make sense, given the cab you already have :-)
17. Thanks for sharing :-)
18.
And yes, having a 210/115 set-up can sound great (I`ve had a few myself) but then you`re in the position of always having to cart both about to get your sound. Whereas sorting the sound needed with one cab, then adding in a second, you just get double of what you already like.
Very true
19. Small discount on the cab given to fellow Basschatters, if interested :-) It's a common belief that 10s give the highs and 15s etc give more lows. But much depends on the construction of the cabinet and the characteristics of the speaker. There are many clever people here who will happily give you chapter and verse on speaker size and frequency response
20. I think that might be my Trace cab you've seen for sale :-)
21. Arghhh!!! Why have I never got the spare money to spend when these so rarely come up for sale? GLWTS :-)
22. What a beauty - I wish I had the spare cash! GLWTS :-)
