That sounds crazy expensive for shipping that over here.

As others have already said, don't take it all on yourself. A band should be a collective project and each person should have a role. In my experience roles kinda tend to fall into place naturally if you have the right people.

I think you answered your own question when you said about playing some pro instruments and there was no magic etc. That's just it - each instrument belongs to its owner who is comfortable with it and knows it inside out, warts 'n all :-)
