1. Don't think that you need really expensive gear to have a good sound, be a good player and have lots of fun. It would be easy to fall into that trap reading forums on BC sometimes :-) But then there is GAS - a different kettle of fish altogether :-)
2. Welcome to BC - you'll find you'll spend a lot of time here, I'm sure :-) Have fun with your playing - playing music is so rewarding. Set yourself achievable goals and don't get too frustrated when you hit 'plateaus' and feel you're not progressing as much as you hoped .... it will pass and you will progress :-)
3. Welcome aboard - it's a great place :-)
4. Welcome to BC :-)
5. Yep, keep at it - playing music is some of the best feeling you can have :-)
6. Buzzard bump ..... I wish somebody would buy this!
7. I'm happy with my P with the old original bit of bent metal :-)
8. Welcome from Cheshire :-)
9. I recommend this book http://www.amazon.com/GAS-Living-Guitar-Acquisition-Syndrome/dp/1411661796
10.
So it seems. Think about something else.
Lol, spot on!
11.
Yep. RnB. As soon as it starts I'll change over or leave the room.
Thanks for reminding me about R&B. Arrghhhhh!!!!!!!! And why couldn't they think of an alternative name for it instead of hijacking the name of a genre I love? Ha ha, when I first saw 'R&B charts' progs advertised on TV I thought my luck was in ..... until I watched one for a few moments :-/
12.
A lot of guys will say they don't like hip hop and beat up on it. I would imagine it has to be creative and socially relevant and requires specific talents.
These would be the specific talents of massive marketing strategies?
13. Wurks ok for mee too in Firefox
14. If this makes me a snob, I'm happy with the label, but I can't stand rap/hip-hop, most chart stuff, 'easy listening', dance/trance etc and as mentioned above, musicals. Shredders do nothing for me either although I appreciate their abilities. On the other hand I enjoy Marilyn Manson to Mahavishnu, Ravi Shankar to old Delta blues and some country.

16. It's true!!!!!! :-( http://jackbruce.com/
17. Deffo another hoax
18.
I've never played in a rock band so I've never had this problem. I've never seen what draws bass players to do rock bands tbh.
For the love and enjoyment of rock music :-)
19.
I sometimes take the risk of having to pay VAT, duties and handling charges and order from the US as it's a lottery as to whether you will get charged customs etc. or not, if the order slips under the radar you get yourself a bargain.
Yep, sometimes you get charged, sometimes you don't. I've been stung on a $60 strap but got away with a $1000+ guitar. If you have a friend in the USA PayPal them the money and ask them to buy the pickups for you and send them to you as a 'gift'. I've done that many times.
20.
Then I would suggest just getting the first one you see available for the right price, check that it works and then buy it.
+1 I've been using the old carpet covered amps and cabs for years and never had a moment's problem with it apart from a green panel light failed once. It does exactly what I need it to do and does it very well imho. Yes, it's heavy but I don't mind that so much.
21. That's a giveaway price! Totally love my German Corvette in the same colour. GLWTS!
22. I suppose it depends on the type of band you're in. For almost as long as I can remember I've been a jeans and t-shirt kinda guy for rock bands. I do have a sh*te Shirt but somehow haven't got around to wearing it in public yet :-)
23. That's probably the way most of us learnt to play - by listening to records and playing along as well as watching others play :-)
24. Perhaps related to these two from The Ox's house? :-)
