  1. We've had two now and both went way better than any of us hoped. I've used the lockdown time to go over and over the set list, so I'm sure that helped. Good to be playing again! way
  2. I see Wishbone Ash have just listed a few dates starting late October (this year)
  3. I don't know if Albert Collins every used anything but a Telecaster. Lonnie Mack and his Flying V with a Bigsby.
  4. Many thanks, Mike - very much appreciated 🙂
  5. Rotosound/Rotobass 95 or 100 usually although last night I used a set of 105 at rehearsal that I bought by accident and they sounded huge. I used to really like LaBella Hard Rockin' Steel but they don't seem to do them now so I switched back to Rotosound, plus it's a British company. I think Warwick Red Label (95 or 100) are excellent value though and I've usually got a pack or two spare.
  6. "The moon is just the sun at night " Perhaps Mr Dio should have watched a few more episodes of The Sky at Night 🙂
  7. 'If the sun refused to shine' How?
  8. One would have through Brian May would have known better than to claim it to be the Fat Bottomed Girls 🙂 I wonder if he discussed it with Freddy? 🙂 https://phys.org/news/2007-08-probing-earth-rotate.html
  9. Call me old fashioned, but I just have a set list taped to the floor or on a monitor.
  10. Brian May's guitars https://www.groundguitar.com/brian-may-guitars-and-gear/
  11. Jimi and Strats is the first person who comes to my mind. Although he did have his hand decorated '67 Flying V and later a '70 leftie V, also a white '67 SG Custom and black '56 Les Paul. Prior to his fame he hd a variety of guitars. And of course, there's Rory Gallagher and his battered Strat.
  12. Welcome, Mike - from down the road in Cheshire 🙂
  13. I'll report back when I've had chance to give it a proper go. We've got a rehearsal on Tuesday but I doubt it will be here in time for that, and we only use the gear in the studio so I won't have a realistic idea how it performs in a live with my own gear or recording situation. I'm looking forward to it. He has quite a full order book so it would be several weeks before you receive it. I wasn't in any rush though.
  14. I've got one of these on order, I should be getting it early next week. It's just been made today 🙂 https://www.creamery-pickups.co.uk/classic-74-precision-p-bass-pickups.html
  15. Thanks for your input, Skybone. I ordered the E bass case as in the photo. I'm glad I did a search on here, I was about to ask the same question. Cheers Dave
  16. Great - just what I was looking for - thanks!
  17. Sorry for the late reply. Yes, these are the ones off the Mex P.
  18. I bought a set of these off a BC member for my Mex P. They fitted perfectly although the bushings on the Schallers are maginally smaller than the originals - easy fix. Great tuners.
  19. We've had two weekly rehearsals as of last night. It was so great to play some music at last!
  20. I vote Warwick for no other reason than I have some and love them. I can't comment on Mayones but I've got four Warwicks (one each of the Fortress series and a '96 Corvette) and they're all high quality and very enjoyable instruments. They have the most comfortable necks imho. I play in an originals rock band and any of my Warwicks fit right in - I'm especially thinking of the Corvette. As someone mentioned earlier, those barrel jack sockets can fail and JAN II is a bit flimsy. Apart from that I haven't had a moment's trouble with any of mine in the 10 years since getting my first Warwick (the Corvette). I've never had any issues with the recessed strap thing. Oh yes, and the Warwick community seems very helpful and friendly.
  21. Great news - glad you got it sorted 🙂
  22. Happy hacker or craftsman, that's going to be a real reward for all your work 🙂
  23. Thanks for the pics - that's going to be a beauty! It must be good to have those woodworking skills. Perhaps you'll share pics on BC when she's finished 🙂
  24. Thank you again! - that really is most helpful 🙂 How did that bass turn out? I always loved that '51 style but never had one.
  25. Wow! Thank you so much for all that - very much appreciated indeed! It's great that you kept such a detailed record of your work. I had to read one or two parts a couple of times but now it all makes sense. I'll have a 'virtual' run through on one of my Precisions in the next day or two. This project won't be happening immediately but I'm certainly going to save a copy of your notes. Again, thank you so much! Dave
