Sold my acoustic fretless to Brian today; lovely (and enviously stylish) guy. It was an absolute pleasure to meet and deal with him and I much appreciated him travelling to collect. Many thanks Brian and all the best!

Hi Up for sale is my Hartke Kickback 110 combo. One of the original designs with the superb shape knob, 120W. Approx 30lb and nice and compact. It's never let me down and has served me well in my acoustic band but has now been replaced with a Tech21 head and Barefaced One10 so it needs to go. Looking for £150.00 or nearest sensible offer. It's currently for sale in a friend's music shop so if anyone wants it I'd have to get it back first. Would prefer pickup because I don't have a box for it. Pics (please note the Squier P is for size comparison purposes only and went a few months ago!):

Hi, Up for sale is my Michael Kelly Dragonfly fretless 5. Bought this a while back when I was casually looking for an acoustic bass; hadn't planned on either a 5 or a fretless but it sounded and played so good - I a/b-d it with an Overwater Perception fretless 5 and much preferred this - that I bought it on the spot. Sadly as I don't really get on with 5s anymore (didn't at the time!) I recently replaced it with a brand new Warwick Alien Deluxe 4, although I have to say this is lighter, slightly louder acoustically and has more mwah (I'm currently having some issues with the Warwick too due to ongoing shoulder and nerve problems, neither of which I'd taken into account when thinking about acoustic basses, so that may also be up for sale in the near future). Never been gigged, only rehearsed once, and in pretty much as new condition. Any marks on the pictures are simply dust or reflections. Colour is smokeburst, pre is a Fishman Presys + , and the neck is apparently carbon-fibre reinforced; see attached links. I do know it plays amazingly, with the lowest action of any acoustic bass I've ever played, and the sound is big and punchy. I'll throw in a Stagg STB10 AB-XL gig bag which cost me £30. Looking for £250 (check out the RRP!) but open to sensible offers. I may also be putting this in a friend's music shop on sale or return so please bear in mind it could sell there.
Why does every For Sale thread include a question about weight? They are basses... we are tough, they are heavy. 4kg or 5kg or 6kg... come on... if you want a light instrument, buy a flute. It's beautiful and a bargain. If I hadn't just placed an order for a new bass I would buy it.
I hope you never have the chronic back problems I suffer with (several slipped discs and spinal stenosis, which cause me crippling problems on a daily basis, have on occasion come close to curtailing my playing entirely, and eventually will do exactly that). Or do I? No, come to think of it, let's hope you do...... Now I remember why I don't tend to bother with Basschat anymore.

Michael Kelly Dragonfly Acoustic Bass... any good?
4000 replied to warwickhunt's topic in Bass Guitars
I just bought a 5 fretless from Promenade Music for £250; I think they have a few more left if anyone is interested. Fit and finish is fairly so-so but the things that actually sold me were the playability (I typically use very low action and for an acoustic this certainly qualified right off the wall - far, far better than any of the Breedloves I've tried and to be honest better than any other acoustic bass I've ever played), and the sound, which I really liked. Mine reminds me a little of Stanley Clarke's upright tone, which may or may not be your cup of tea but which I love. In fact I played a few other basses next to it from a fretless Cort (marvellous neck but a bit thin-sounding) to an Overwater Perception 5, and quite honestly I preferred this. The B isn't fabulous (I wouldn't really expect it to be), but overall I really like it. The preamp is a Fishman Presys FWIW and the Rosetti site says the neck is graphite reinforced, which if true I was very surprised by. -
What can I say that hasn't been said? Such a shock. Legend indeed.
"I'm leaving my body to medical science fiction"
Brilliant. Not ashamed to say I cried like a baby when the news finally sank in. He was my biggest early inspiration and influence and I basically learnt to play by playing along with Lemmy-era Hawkwind, in particular Space Ritual. Met him a couple of times and he was a lovely guy too. Damn. What a sh*t year this has been.
I don't mind my heroes getting old and dying. But 61 is no age. I'll tell it like it is, when I was young I didn't have any great role models in my family. Motorhead embodied all the role models wrapped up in one. Lemmy was the Dad I wanted, Eddie inspired a work ethic like a hard-work teacher who you only appreciate when you're older and Phil was the Acme-Placebo version of me, who always had the hair, the clothes and the chops. Far from turning me into a degenerate they inspired me to be the best I could be, not to be scared, but to jump in with both feet. I probably didn't take drugs because of Motorhead because there was work to be done. The quintessential loud, fast, dirty rock and roll band and so much more besides.
Great post mate, and probably true for many.

R.I.P. mate. Tonight this ageing former Motorheadbanger will be looking at all the Motörhead stuff you signed for me back in the day with incredulity and immense sadness. You made my late teens way better than they could have been, and I'll never forget being woken up by Overkill at immense volume the morning after a party at my dad's. Condolences to Lem, Eddie, Helen and everyone else who knew and loved him.

Gorgeous bass. I considered this bass very carefully when it was for sale and in the end was only put off by the string spacing; I prefer more like 16mm. Looks great though.
