I'll state the obvious and feel that Deap Vally seem to be a rip-off of the White Stripes.
It wasn't just me then. I could hardly tell the difference, gender aside.
if thats what deck dive means then this bass definatly doesnt suffer from it , its so heavy... weighing in at 4.59 kilos or 10.5lbs in old money because of the solid lump of ash that the body is made of , that you would have to tie a bag of lead from the headstock to unbalance it .
Yep, 'neck dive' refers to the tendency of the headstock to head floorwards when you're wearing it due to balance issues. -

Price drop to £1495 or nearest sensible offer. Bear in mind in the Woodshed column in the May issue of Bass Guitar Magazine Reidy's state that one of these is "£2399 - the most expensive bass on our books". This is in shop condition and is the nicest one I've seen by quite a way, so that's a massive saving on a singular bass. I reiterate that if not for it exacerbating my medical issues I wouldn't be selling. In terms of trades, may be interested in a Sei or pre-73-ish (i.e. full-width inlays) Ric. May, repeat may consider something else interesting, although I'm limited as to what I can play these days and almost as limited as to what I like (generally small, light and a bit odd!). May consider a 4000/4001/4003 but it'd have to be the right bass with cash on top. I would be interested in a Wal Pro in trade but I do rather fear that the forearm contour would finish me off!

Thanks Nik, your thoughts are really appreciated. Still really annoyed I've got to sell for the reasons given but unless a miracle happens sometime soon it's just not going to work. Greenman, also thanks for the thoughts & the day I win the lottery jackpot, it's yours. Warwickhunt, yes ironically I have real trouble with almost all basses that have proper forearm contours and many others that have any sort of contouring (although most Warwicks seem ok); they really exacerbate my nerve problems. Jazzes and the classic Status shape are the worst. I often wonder if because I learnt to play on a 4001 my body has sort of molded to that shape. For anyone who has trouble with the slab/bound 4001/3, this is the perfect Rick; and don't forget, only 8lb!

As some will have read in the General Discussion section, I bought this bass brand new on the 13th of April this year, only to find that, like 98% of basses these days (especially those with any sort of forearm contour a la Fender, Status etc), it aggravates nerve problems that I have in my arm(s); my medical conditions are pretty well documented on Basschat. I've tried playing through it but it just isn't happening. So, what's bad for me is going to be good for someone else as they get to pick up the most stunning Rickenbacker Cheyenne II I've ever seen (it's also a much better bass than the other one they had in the shop, and I've since tried another that was nowhere near as good) at a great price. As you can see from the pictures it's a maple and walnut sandwich body and weighs about 8lbs, so pretty lightweight. The pickups are passive humbuckers with volume, tone and pickup selector and it comes with all case candy and case. It sounds big, big, big, but is also nicely open sounding. It'll do Squire to Zender; if not for the arm issue there is no way I would be selling this as it's one of the very best basses I've ever had. The figuring, both on body and fingerboard, is amazing. A recent Guitarist review lists the price as £2680 (although I've seen the RRP listed as higher): http://www.musicrada...nne-bass-572192 Looking at the internet They generally go for anything from about £1999 to £2300 or so. Mine was up for a great price of £1899, although I actually got it a little cheaper. In the hope of not losing too much money and given it's been played for mere hours I'm looking for a sensible offer in the region of £1495. Buyer to collect or to arrange pickup. Any questions please ask; if you need further photos or details just say. Not really interested in trades although I may, repeat may, consider a Sei or an old pre '73 Ric (just about the only basses I can play these days!).
So how do they cope if they sell a bass via eBay? I think they're spinning you a line mate.
I believe it's accounted for differently (they said so and a couple of people here have suggested the same), which makes the difference. I don't think it's logged to the buyer at the point either. Everything they said to me made sense at the time, although I'm probably not repeating it very well. They might be spinning me a line, but I didn't get that impression. Without making a very large issue of it I guess I'll never know.
I think he means are you SURE everything is working ok? Nudge nudge, wink wink
Yeah, I got there in the end (see post 28).
4004's are simply awesome basses - and from the comments here, obviously appeal to 'non-Ric' people as well. The tone is amazing - like a 4003 on steroids! Gorgeous MG BTW....
Yes, big, big sounding basses. I'm just gutted about this one because in all other ways it's absolutely awesome. The neck is just sublime.
