  1. Thanks for posting both vids! By switching between them it's clear the BPM difference is trivial to minor at most. The Anthrax version is however produced a lot better, imo of course and I'm quite biased.

Does that bit of silk mute terribly? It may not even be that audible. I love playing on DR strings DDT5-55 heavy G: 55 😧 75 A: 85 E: 115 B: 135 SKU: 6-00781-00334-6
  3. I saw a video by Taylor showing they just use Turtle Wax on all their guitars. From the cheapest Mexico made to the bespoke £8k and up!
  4. Forgot Red Fang!
  5. It's obviously not a simple question as you keep adding parameters and conditions. Four fingers and a thumb can achieve quite a high number of attacks per minute on the strings with a little practice to that goal. With two finger you can still use up and down strokes. I think three hits per finger per second shouldn't be difficult, times two for up and down, times two fingers is twelve attacks per second, times sixty is about 720 attacks per minute? Speed metal/black metal territory I'd say.
  6. Yeah but they sound sh*t don't they.
  7. Ply usually enhances the properties of a piece of wood. Less torque, warping, tougher, stronger etc. Especially when you set these against weight, price or reliability plied wood can be amazing. Because it's used in building materials we tend to think of it as cheap or basic but it really makes sense.
  8. No mention yet of Amenra from Belgium, kicks off around 2:40 but Doom guys will want the atmos of the intro:
  9. Three. That's how many bass guitars I have.
  10. Gene Hoglan, the Atomic Clock! I'm nowhere near his league though.
  11. Sober?
  12. Paradise Lost lost me (hah) after 'Gothic'. That and Lost Paradise are awesome albums!
  13. Hugh Laurie Tim Minchin
  14. Oh I forgot to plug HERDER! Huge sound! https://herder.bandcamp.com/album/gods
  15. That was one of the Jackson sisters wasn't it?
  16. I think it started for me when Lee Dorian, of Napalm Death fame, brought out 'forest of equilibrium' with Cathedral. Local (to me) bands like Bluuurgh, Celestial Seasons, Orphanage, the Gathering and Within Temptation all took a sip from the Doom cup in the 90s. Other great discoveries in the record bins were Sleep's 'Mountain of Madness' and some St.Vitus ep I had long forgot I had until just now!
  17. Like Snarky puppy's Michael League and Vulfpeck's Joe Dart or am I way off?

I'm not convinced that this isn't Roy Orbison.
  19. Still just cheap shots that would not have made a thread if it featured a worse band with no women displayed like that. Some people here are showing their true character and it's pretty disappointing.
  20. Meanwhile, this is Iggy Pop. Maybe we can appreciate or ignore people without shaming them?
  21. Very good advice above! Perhaps with exception to the closed backs. Sound pressure and fatigue are the two main culprits in regards to hearing damage (which can result in tinitus). That's why I would always advice open backed headphones when possible. The Beyerdynamic DT880 for instance, same as the 770 but the pressure has another way out than just through the eardrums.
  22. Well it's not the best sounding printer out there but once it's fired up it's pretty fast!
  23. Bunch of doomprophets here. What's the point in repeating over and over that no good can come of any of this and they all gave up, sold out and everything went to hell? In some cases that's not even remotely truthful. Cheer the f. Up.
  24. Korg is not Chinese, and doesn't look to be purchasing competition to vulture their tech and/or patents as 7ender was. Spector was already named as a quality acquisition that seems to be doing well with Korg. Trace was doing poorly for a while but pre-covid seemed to be regaining some traction under the Peavey flag. I hope it all goes well.
