What a D**k. Drummer is the real hero, keeping it tasteful and entertaining while holding a clear rythm. Letting the bass breathe. The other way around when drums gets his moment? Nothing. Bass still hammering for attention. Is the church for his ego?

Morbid Angel in the Vincent/Azagthoth era was massive. Slayer lost their way in the 90s after booting Lombardo. (Absolutely adore Show No Mercy/Live Undead, they only got that intense again on Seasons in the Abyss) HOWEVER Metallica was meh with Dave Mustaine. That split was the best thing to happen to both parties. Faith no More Mosely-Patton different bands, both genious. Funny how none of the vocalist changes really impacted Bolt Thrower's quality. I'll happily put any of their albums on repeat for an evening.

When I was 13 I was listening to Halloween, some Iced Earth, Maiden and Metallica. At some point that year I subscribed to Aardschok magazine and got Slowly We Rot as bonus record. At first I couldn't work out at what speed I had to play it, it was so alien! 😄

Blessed are the Sick and Altars of Madness are landmark albums, significant of the new styles being born out of heavy metal. I think it's great that all the original musicians are able to play their best work from that era, opposed to weird constructions like Entombed AD for instance. I'm sure that when the divide becomes less 'fresh' some classic songs will make it to both their setlists. May take some time though!

I got a pair of Samson SR850 headphones to kick about the place recently. Well pleased! If you can stretch to get the DT990s though, that's a no-brainer!

What I use to practice at home is a IRig (HD2) into an ipad with amplitube installed. Either use headphones (Sennheiser HD 25 in my case, other options are available) or connect a small amp. I have a Kustom defender 15h amp and cab, not ideal for bass but good enough for home use. However I can recommend the Roland Cube for bass, very nice, tiny, many many options.

I believe the original question was resolved 8 months ago, so it's all moot now. In my experience cheap subs make sound worse rather than better, and one is better served by concentrating on the main thing: the unit that creates most voice and music.

Likewise fast, polite and helpful response anytime I contacted Warwick. Most recently last year for a 5string bridge.
