1.
active preamp is Bartorini
Legit!
2. Are you hearing it amplified or unplugged or both? Also, why take the neck off for a trussrod adjustment? How do you check if it adjusted correctly? Seems strange.
3. Nekromantix use a cello size bass on a long peg (the coffin bass, even has it's own facebook page). Different strokes for different folks...
4. The HA3500 is rear-vented. Keep it in the bag but open the backside for the fan to get the hot air out. The picture shows one mounted as well.
5. Look for a BC member, or a luthier near you who can help with a proper set-up.
6.
Aside from sounding better do fancy expensive earplugs actually offer better protection than standard 5p foam plugs? I grab the foam ones from work and they are supposedly designed to be used on building sites so must offer decent protection? Or am I just kidding myself and I might as well be using nothing...
They will probably attenuate the sound pressure on your eardrum fairly well. The tuning or soundquality is where differences are made.
7. DDTs are my favourite strings, but they are not low tension. They are made to retain tension when downtuning, so less floppy than others.
8.
Calling a cat Peavey would be silly, besides he only answers to Frog or his middle name Monkey.
Is his surname Dog, Donkey or Mongoose? Dolphin perhaps?
9. Using a good wet and dry signal mix, the wet chain using some overdrive and envelope effect. Made in a proper studio the original could have been anything at all realy, anybody know who played and who produced it?
10.
The Clash were a great band. The Pistols were a marketing exercise.
Even so the pistols functioned as an icebreaker for other punk vessels.
11.
I was thinking about something like this with a hole in: Plectrum Medals Coins (1962 coin for a 1962 bass?)
That wouldn't be for me, but I'm sure some people will love it.
12. Loxx are good and have an increasing range of designs.
13. Mediocre middle-of-the-road rock wins over bass avant-garde. You guys are so OLD
14. +2 Dr's DDT I use a heavy set on my SR5, the B dropped to A.
15.
It's all subjective though innit.
It is. Primus is the first band in this list I'd disagree with. For their unique sound and approach to making music they never really hit the charts big time or filled stadiums. How are they overrated?
16. Looks like a UK exclusive, that's me out. Bloody Br***t!
17.
this is such a hard one, because its so subjective. some people will say a band is overrated, but the size of its fan base shows otherwise.
Isn't that exactly what is meant by overrated?
18. Jamerson & Pino. Not bad, but heavily overrated around here.
19. In what situation does a drummer need to hear vocals? Is he on backing vox duty?
20.
And the horror continues into the body. Also the G string hangs over the edge of the headstock. Very poor.
The D and G are wound the wrong way round, easy mistake to make.
