1.
I bought a bass off Leigh Gordon of morcheeba. It had the most sky high Jamerson action I’ve ever seen - eight full turns over time to take it
Turns? Sounds like relief, not action.
2. March of the Sod/United Forces - SOD Troops of Doom - Sepultura Caught in a Mosh - Anthrax House of the Rising [strike]Sun[/strike] Dead - Turner/Martin Although the last few shows we only played our originals and response was great!
3.
If your good at it, and I mean really good and know when to use it, that's great. Otherwise it can come off as very corny, IMO Blue
That is all performance ever summed up.
4. Wow what a ride! Keep up the good work.
5. Good on ya!
6.
I thought lemon oil was for cleaning fretboards and dried them out? I use boiled linseed oil on rosewood fretboards.
Either works fine on rosewood, the linseed is better on maple as it stains less.
7. You could ask a teacher to help flesh out the parts? And tell the band to be patient. Having a good bandmember walk out sucks balls if it could have been prevented!
8.
... But seriously, WTAF is it with this "each-to-their-own-and-nobody-should-tell-anyone-anything's-wrong" BS ?!?
Fair enough. Everything you say is wrong.
9. So maybe the bass end of the p pup is near death?
10. Punk covers... Top 30... Wait what?
11.
I like Voivod
I think this is the most important statement of this topic.
12. Is there not a 'haggle' dropdown menu on PublicPeace? Raises the total price by 50% but let's you haggle up to 30% off, if you're good.
13.
I'm confused - who said my current neck doesn't work properly?
You said in your OP "there's also issues with overtones and deadness on the E string" So the neck could be warped, poorly attached to the body, tuner in a wrong place, headstock mass may need adjusting, fretwork needs seeing to, or any other adjustment. Why? Because you ruled out strings and setup thereof and amps etc. Why the new neck anyway? I'm just curious where the dead E is coming from.
14. A good luthier shouldn't let you struggle with a neck that doesn't work properly though?
15.
Rob 😉
This. And even better in Infectious Grooves
16. Ebay search for "1mm veneer" didn't dissapoint.
17.
active preamp is Bartorini
Legit!
18. Are you hearing it amplified or unplugged or both? Also, why take the neck off for a trussrod adjustment? How do you check if it adjusted correctly? Seems strange.
19. Nekromantix use a cello size bass on a long peg (the coffin bass, even has it's own facebook page). Different strokes for different folks...
20. The HA3500 is rear-vented. Keep it in the bag but open the backside for the fan to get the hot air out. The picture shows one mounted as well.
21. Look for a BC member, or a luthier near you who can help with a proper set-up.
22.
Aside from sounding better do fancy expensive earplugs actually offer better protection than standard 5p foam plugs? I grab the foam ones from work and they are supposedly designed to be used on building sites so must offer decent protection? Or am I just kidding myself and I might as well be using nothing...
They will probably attenuate the sound pressure on your eardrum fairly well. The tuning or soundquality is where differences are made.
23. Lightweight tuners?
24. DDTs are my favourite strings, but they are not low tension. They are made to retain tension when downtuning, so less floppy than others.
25.
Calling a cat Peavey would be silly, besides he only answers to Frog or his middle name Monkey.
Is his surname Dog, Donkey or Mongoose? Dolphin perhaps?
