1.
I use ER 10's, but, my hearing is damaged in the the speech range so using ear plugs makes the problem even worse (have to take out my hearing aids as well), never have got used to the detached feeling when using them tbh
You could give the flare audio aluminum/titanium plugs a try. They block the ear canal completely and leave you with only conductive sound perception, resulting in a more even signal to the cochlea. My leadguitar player loves his, though I haven't tried them myself. Edit: this is a heavy dB reduction, maybe too much for quiet bands.
2. It will get better over time, but ears are most sensitive in the 1500-3500Hz range, where most speech is heard. That is where music sounds most lively, but also where good earplugs offer the most protection. I use 15dB pluggerz at the moment, they're fine. Putting anything in your ears will affect the sound but these are as good as it gets.
3. DR Strings for me, the DDT's. Only the low B gets dropped to A, and I get a nice even sound across all strings. Clean them with FastFret after every practise, a set last me about a year.
4. No Doubt. I'm just a girl or You're just a girl, when sung with male vocals?
5.
The MXR takes a little more work to get it right, but it can be set to where you just don't know it's there and is nice as a subtle tool to round off the sound. I don't like the input sensitivity 'though, it seems I have to have it nearly maxed and my basses are not particularly low output... Dunno.
Nearly maxed? Mine is between 10 and 11 o clock on the input, between 1 and 2 o clock output. Have you tried it at different places in your effects chain?
6.
I've had one of these for a couple of years: https://totalsounds.co.uk/rocknroller-multi-cart-rmh1-mini-handtruck-p-4336.html Compact and sturdy. Means that I can travel on buses and trains with a full gigging rig. Highly recommended.
Goes well with markbass, not so much with Trace!
7. Ovnilab.com for all your compressor questions, spot on as fas as I can tell. I run an MXR bass compressor always on, but set more as a limiter. Get youtubing to hear what you DON'T want and make a choice from what's left.
8. Dear lord, it should be illegal to be this boring! After giving all songs in this thread a try I have the taste of cardboard in my mouth and a grey film over my eyes. Definately not for me.
9. Last Metallicker album I bought was the black album. I threw it out and never bought another. Every decade I'll listen to what they've been up to, sigh, shake my head and get on with life.

Spectacular looking bass! Glwts
11. Maybe work to relax your technique a bit more? 3 hours of physical excertion non-stop will strain any limb, good ergonomy is important. Make sure you hear yourself well enough so you don't have to force your playing any. Perhaps slightly longer rest may help too. Good luck!
12.
Talented but singing ruined it.
Seconded.
13. I'm on youtube but mostly watch cargeeks beat on rustbuckets. Not my cup of tea, this. Plenty of skill, lacking in good taste..
14. Linking retail price to quality/sound/playability is so passé.
15. If you like the tone, and you didn't force the pegs through the holes, you're fine.
16. 89-92 death metal Bolt Thrower (realm of chaos, war master), Obituary (slowly we rot), Paradise Lost (gothic, lost paradise), Entombed (left hand path).
17.
I've got a pair of ric hearing aids. They're sat in the cupboard with no batteries. I'm going to be looking in to see if I can get a pair that can double as IEMs. I know there are bluetooth ones that double as headphones.
Keep in mind hearing aids are designed and built primarily for speech. Not optimised for music generally, though some may get away with it none will sound as good as ones build for music.
18. Do they kill sustain when playing an open string?
19. As an alternative you could try variphone. I'm not sure they go under the same company name in the UK but dealers are found here: http://www.variphone.com/en/dealers
