I would very much like to see the result!

Luthiers without their own model will probably be less sought after than those that are known for their own merit. Wal, MTD, Ritter and some others will attract more collectors than those that make their own jazz version and barely anything distinctive.

Really get in to it, it's great party music! Plus the punters deserve a good effort.

'sunbeam' implies a bright sound, lo riders sound a little fatter. Roll off a little Bright or Presence or whatever and it should be fine. Glad that moving the amp fixed your problem! Love DR's
Have you tried wetting down the dents & letting them soak to see if you can swell the wood back out? I have done this with small surface dent and it worked OK.
If the wood fibre hasn't been broken this could work, helped perhaps by a hot iron to steam the dent out. I doubt with lead shot stuck in the fibre is tore up and will not pop back in it's original shape. Have a chat with a luthier about possible finishes, I think I read somewhere that once you go oil it is a b!tch to go back to paint later.

You can drill out the holes and bung them. I wouldn't change the rest honestly, just wax it it's cool.
I understand your frustration, but never quit in anger or reacting to something. That's something I learnt the hard way (in general, not just bands). They do seem, however... 'a bit precious'. A lot of what you said would be huge red flags to me *if* I knew all that when joining. The band dynamics are not great, although you have an impeccable taste for dresses I have to say I liked what I saw in that video. It's not my #1 kind of music, but I would be happy playing what you're playing... from a musical point of view. It can be great fun. But what you say about the personalities of the band members would frustrate me as well. It's a tough one to choose to leave a band you enjoy musically. You have to decide whether you can be happy with the way the band operates, 'though. It's probably a good idea to talk over beers once everybody is calm. If you have to go, you have to go and maybe you can go in good terms (even if you despise any of them... the world is small, so don't make enemies unless you really must, you never know when you'll come across each other again)... or maybe they get to understand your view and you can continue to enjoy the band. The new 'manager' also sounds positive. It sounds like they listen to her and they are open to making small changes that can open up better possibilities for the band. Yeah, it stinks when you suggest something, get ignored, then somebody else comes with the same idea and it suddenly it's a wonderful thing! It happens. Sometimes we have to bite our lip and smile, and be pragmatic... But it may be a good sign. Now all you have to do is become her friend and next... the band is yours and do what you say! (joking... a bit) I can't tell you what's best. It depends on just how fed up you are, whether the music can compensate for other things, and a million other factors only you can judge. All I can say is... don't quit while angry. Don't make any permanent decisions while upset. I hope you can make it work *if* you can be happy in the band. I really liked what I saw. Nice work.
Agree with mcnach here, maybe meet with bandmembers outside of the band individualy, work on personal friendships? For the far away gig, is there any way you could help promote it? Send posters and flyers to all venues in that city for instance. The music, what I hear is the Cult meets Marilyn Manson. Try to describe boundaries for the genre you are aiming for, and work within those lines when it comes to wardrobe, videos (last one was good, the hips one not so much, the goth scene relatively has a lot of female followers) etc etc. Best of luck!
What? I love AC/DC but they will never be as good as Dire Straits. Mark Knopfler is a genius.
Still, AC/DC gets sold out venues year after year. Millions of people thoroughly enjoy their straight-forward rock. DS sell tickets good too, but tour much less, so are a more rare commodity. I'm not a fan of either band, but I think I could stay awake through an AC/DC show as opposed to a Dire Straights one, I'd be waiting for the elevator to arrive at the top floor.

Bassists you like in genres/band you don't

Science says the bassist is the most important member of the band

I would count the Cramps' bassVI. Just becuzzz. -
For a proper cleaning I add a few drops of Dr.Duck's Axwax. Works great on body, hardware, strings, ebony or rosewood fingerboard, in fact everything except the stingray neck (gunstock oil/wax).

The neck pickup near the gibson mudbucker spot?

I wouldn't say it is a common sight, but it happens

This band apparently. I can't get into though, either style. https://youtu.be/nRAyImFXW_Y
... and a paintbrush to get into the fiddly bits.
I have a shaving brush for this. Hardly ever use it thanks to the towel getting nearly everywhere.

A soft lint free microfiber towel works well for me

Denon Heos and Sonos playbar get good reviews. I believe most brands carry them nowadays. I recommend one that doesn't need a separate subwoofer per sé

Labeling is instrumental (hah) in finding more music like the music you just heard that you liked. Also "Be calmly aware that this may periodically expand, contract or combust" is my new favorite catchphrase.

I have never since I decided at 14 that I was going to play bass wanted a P bass or sound, even though my first bass was a cheapo P clone. Get a secondhand Harley Benton-ish precision and stow it in a closet, under a bed, in a crawlspace or whatever, and move on. Life's too short
-
Now that that's over, bring a 3-tone burst 70s P next rehearsal.
-
More traditional? Bring an upright. In thrash metal anything is used that tickles your fancy, from lethal spikey b.c. rich to firewood fenders, steinberger paddles to rics.
