1. I'm on youtube but mostly watch cargeeks beat on rustbuckets. Not my cup of tea, this. Plenty of skill, lacking in good taste..
2. Linking retail price to quality/sound/playability is so passé.
3. If you like the tone, and you didn't force the pegs through the holes, you're fine.
4. 89-92 death metal Bolt Thrower (realm of chaos, war master), Obituary (slowly we rot), Paradise Lost (gothic, lost paradise), Entombed (left hand path).
5.
I've got a pair of ric hearing aids. They're sat in the cupboard with no batteries. I'm going to be looking in to see if I can get a pair that can double as IEMs. I know there are bluetooth ones that double as headphones.
Keep in mind hearing aids are designed and built primarily for speech. Not optimised for music generally, though some may get away with it none will sound as good as ones build for music.
6. Do they kill sustain when playing an open string?
7. Lovely bass!
8. As an alternative you could try variphone. I'm not sure they go under the same company name in the UK but dealers are found here: http://www.variphone.com/en/dealers
9.
Would a pair of old in-ear headphones protect me any ? What makes those metal ones that keep spamming me on Fbook any different
In-ear headphones are not made to keep sound pressure out. Get some that are designed for protecting your ears. They are cheaper and less painful in the long run.
10.
Interesting blog article by a Brit muso ; https://innerpieces....after-tinnitus/
Great write-up, better worded than I could have done! Also reminds us that hearing and everything associated with hearing is a bit subjective. What one finds hardly a problem for someone else is a panic situation. I'm hearing more positive feedback on TRT from professionals and patients alike, worth taking seriously. Good health everyone, don't let the bastards beat you down!
11. I like the reversed headstock! going to get old tuning it fast though I think. Nice colour too
12.
Mine are pretty good. What did all of you guys used to do before we had tuners?
Primary school
13. Dunk 'm in peanutbutter
14.
My basses don't go out of tune under normal circumstances - I let them settle when I arrive and we're setting up PA, etc, then check them before soundcheck. I can't remember the last time I had to re-tune during a gig.
This. I only play the SR5 live though.
15. Agree with all of the above. You get one set of ears for life, and they are damn hard to fix. Tinnitus is caused by a neurological problem: the brain is no longer receiving certain information from the inner ear, this is not normal so it decides to make some sh*t up, filling in the frequencies that have gone missing. Hearing aids are not like glasses. They do not compensate for a slack eardrum, they just try to make the most important frequencies loud enough so they can be perceived over the damaged parts of the hearing system. There's much more to tell but I've run out of time for now... Protect your hearing from sustained loud noises, always!
16.
. The rockabilly stuff was poor.
Heartily disagree.
17. 440 is clearly superior to all your lesser tunings. Accept no lower pitch!
18. More on bands and such in amsterdam: https://www.iamsterdam.com/en/visiting/whats-on/music
19. Big improvement over the fender growth headstock, the colors matching better than the natural. Still, there's room for improvement. I like the m7 headstock, it's a direct copy of MTD.
20.
Good for Metal?
Yes http://youtu.be/IyQOw-_H4yE
21. Kustom also has decent weighty stuff for not a lot.
22. Uhmm no I guess whatever this month was. I really shouldn't be allowed on the internet before my first coffee. April it is!
23. For these last days of march, Verellen amps has a 25% discount on all their products, and including custom work! Happy 10year anniversary Ben!
24. Leiden is a lovely city, a boat trip on the canals, museums aplenty (Naturalis with some excellent huge dinosaur skeletons, Corpus for a trip through the human body, museum Volkenkunde has amazing exhibits for instance). Leiden-info.com has info on the nightlife and restaurants etc. Contact them to see if they have an english version of the website An hours drive is Edwin van Huik's bassconnection in Hilversum http://www.connectionbult.com/wp/ Excellent shop Bax has shops in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Goes. Not bass specific though. There's plenty more to see and do in Leiden https://www.visitleiden.nl/en/plan-your-visit/information/tourist-information-centre And most other citys are 30-60 minutes away by train. By car, avoid driving between 7-9am and 5-6pm. Enjoy!
