I own an early kingston one aswell, passive witha single humbucker. Playability is better than my SR5, but the tone was too dark for me. Very deep and chocolaty. Upgraded the hardware and electronics, now it's brutal.

Getting valve tone without big amps and glowing bottles
Bolo replied to Dickyc1981's topic in Amps and Cabs
Have you thought about coupling your LB30 with more and more efficient speakers? The difference between a neo 412 or a ferrite 110 are immense! That said, my Verellen Meatsmoke preamp pedal works amazingly well in front of a clean SS amp. One clean channel and one lush dirty channel, each with it's own 3band eq, gain (in) and master (out) volume. It will pass a double blind test! -
If weight is a consideration definitely play a MTD. Best ergonomical bass I've played.

Usualy drive mine around upright in the passenger seat. The bass. I'd be in the drivers seat. Obviously.

Why do you want to know? I could nitpick about stuff like the banter before the songs being meh. A little enthusiastic on the fast picking bass on the first track (did I just say that? I must be getting old). The vocals too shouty for the laid back music they're playing. I could also say the drums seem appropriate and the guitars sound great, nice fat but articulate tone on the bass. A good 7.5 out of 10 for the genre.

I have experienced good results from DR strings, notably the lo-riders and even better from the DDTs. A bit heavier gauge on the D and G than usual may also help compensate. Pickup height and action could play a part too, aswell as the stuff mentioned above.

Want to see what an eBay seller regarded as a 'small neck twist'?

Contact the Warwick uk distributor and see if they can be of any service? Even if they charge you for repairs that might be worth it if it's a good bass. -
If the sixties had no sex in we would be a dying breed. Also, use all of the names to point to the same website.

It's my favourite way to get a free night's out. Walk in to a venue with some promising bands on the poster, carrying my backup rig. Set up on stage, find the bass players and talk them in to using it in exchange for free access to the backstage fridge. 😊

What is it I don't like about Ernie Ball guitars?
Bolo replied to thisnameistaken's topic in General Discussion
Frankly the Sterling by MM basses, manufactured in a good facility in Indonesia, are finished and set up in the regular MM factury in SLO-California. With the same stuff as is used for the US MMs. The overall quality is only marginaly lower, the wood selection for example. They outclass MIM fenders without breaking a sweat. IMO etc etc -
Sterling/Stingray electronics What's the difference?!
Bolo replied to timmchale2009's topic in Bass Guitars
Try the MusicMan f.a.q. http://www.music-man.com/faq/music-man-basses/what-are-the-differences-between-the-stingray-and-the-sterling.html Don't fix it if it isn't broken. -
Does a Dean Stylist cabbie count? [Img]http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y238/micolao/DSCI0042.jpg?t=1283877781" class="ipsImage" /> This one isn't mine though. Internet pic.

The design looks solid. Showing it with a bass and/or on a person may help things along. Also, as a handcrafted premium product, it's a niche market. For the work put in, the price is certainly fair. However they are more costly than many other designs currently available. A highly custom product like this will need to prove itself 'in the flesh'. I'm sure the difference in comfort with ordinary straps is huge!

I can't make you like what you have decided not to like, but try a MM Sterling. Slimmer neck, different body and electronics. It may just not be your bag though. Shame, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. -
We tend to like the music that was playing when we were most impressionable and new experiences were a regular occurrence... who can forget that song that was playing when you met your first love, had your first drink, drove your first car, smoked your first joint, went to your first gig..? Important events indeed and the soundtrack to them is burnt into our minds and have special significance. I'm sure it is no different for today's teenagers.
This. Music and movies are as important to teens & early twenties as they were in my time (90's) and every decade before that. The first half of the previous century these influences came more from religious, political and class of the neighbourhood one grew up in. After WW2 media and technology became rapidly available to more and more people, so they were affected by influences beyond their normal surroundings. Pop culture emerged as a new way to define oneself, and has only developed and professionalised since. Errmm where was I going with this again?

I won't be parted with DR DDT strings anymore. Used to play their Lo-riders, but the DDTs are more tonally alike across all five strings. They're rounds though.
-
Try a local (if any) MM dealership. Bring the serial of your stingray. EB keeps the details of all their basses on stock, so they can manufacture a pickguard to match your bass.
-
Get a centre speaker that matches the B&Ws. I have stereo floorstanders, so no lack of bass response, but the voices improved dramatically when I added a dedicated centre. I drive this 3.0 setup with a Marantz av receiver (6003 I think?)
-
MTD. My 5string mtd kingston was very dark sounding. Single passive humbucker. They make killer 6 stringers.
-
Great that it worked out for you!

Two fumps up!👍

I think a pvc slide buckle will be a time saver, as you do not have to punch out all the holes that are in conventional straps

Which Female bassist has the best technical skills?
Bolo replied to stingrayPete1977's topic in General Discussion
Didn't she tour with Jamiroqai or whatever after these vids? -
Happily agree on that, they are amazing quality basses, I had one and a "real" Stingray at the time. Aside from the worn neck of the `98 Stingray, playability, sound, and construction quality I couldn`t tell them apart.
+1
