1.
Anthony Jackson, James Jamerson, Jaco Pastorius, Pino Palladino. They all played passive instruments, and their tone is amazing so any argument for better tone goes out the window. Different tone, sure. Think Marcus Miller for that, but that's not what I'm going for. I just don't like fiddling while I'm playing. If I need to change the tone, I change what I'm doing with my hands. And you only need it to happen once when a battery fails on stage to know that relying on a £3 battery as a crucial chain in your signal path is not cool.
Personal preference again. What about different styles of music? What about the £3 patch cable on your pedalboard or kettle lead? The wire from the pickup to the Jack? There are so many cheap parts in a signal chain it's amazing anything works :-D Some will want to make adjustments without walking back to their amp. Some will find passive tone controls do the job. There is no argument that can't be turned over the other way. Personal preference. 👍
2. Pedals are not generally counter-intuitive are they. Cable comes out of your bass in the right hand side (adjust for lefties as needed), then enters pedalboard at right side so you are not standing on your cable. Pedals run right to left where the cable runs off stage to amp or DI, leaving the place where you stand uncluttered.
3.
We probably all have one or two. An album where you know every word, bass note, guitar / keyboard part and drum beat so intimately that you can play the whole album in your head, in the correct track order. Mine it seems are Hemispheres by Rush and Deja Vu by CSN&Y Be interested to hear what others' are.
Not even my own 😞
4. I'd have though Rick or Gib for classic rock? The horns on a btb are edgey enough for any kind of guitar band. It really doesn't matter. Oh, Gene Simmons. Nuff said.
5. The pup is not the issue imo. Paint the headstock! Cream like the pup or red.
6. The LEDs in my MXR pedals attract landing airplanes.
7.
http://www.intunegp.com Been using them for years. Great picks, lots of options and really really great service too.
I use these, great range of options in material and print. They have a discount every single holiday or festive occasion.
8. Testament were originally called The Legacy and have a song and album of that name.
9. Rob Scallon plays a one string shovel guit*r, look his videos up they're quite entertaining!
10. I love it!
11. I had an EB one fail one me on the top horn, luckily I caught the neck before the headstock smashed against the floor. The body did manage to clip a music stand (at practice, as I am also lead vocalist) and ding the laquer. Back to schallers, check the nuts when cleaning/general maintenance, never had a problem.
12. TC polytune mini the individual strings tune great but the poly is rubbish. Nice small footprint on the board though. Ashdown Bass-o-meter good tuner but huge heavy and salmon colored 😁
13. It's not a show if there aren't footprints on the monitor.
14. It's in the link in the first post
15. MusicMan never had a crap era or hit-or-miss production like 7ender does. A MM bass of any vintage might suit you or might not, but all are fit for live duty and recording.
16. I adore my '96 SR5. Trans teal, some birdeyes near the headstock and flame down the neck. Also the maple neck and fingerboard are from one piece with the joint hardly showing. They cut the fingerboard with a very fine saw to put the trussrod in and glue them back together.
17. Fresh strings > tuning and intonation > play a song > check tuning (it's never off by more than a notch on the tuner). All done, I did 'stretch' the strings on a previous bass with different strings but I find no need for it currently.
18. Is he South African perchance?
19. There is a Peavey 1x18 + 2x10 cab too isn't there?
20. I have one as my back up right now, played it for a year as my main amp. Do you have any specific questions about it?
21. What a sexy beast, good luck with the sale!
22. No Doubt/ Gwen Stefani Guano Apes Christina Aguilera (fighter?) Within Temptation (not sure how well known they are down your way) Imelda May Whale (Hobo humping slobo babe?) Plenty of material to create your own version of, could be fun!
23.
Not a problem now - tried to buy and checkout, and was given a 'problem, contact customer service'. Then directed to a generic contact form! Think I'll pass....
Perhaps they disabled the buy option for this bass as it's now being processed. I'd wait for their reply, they've always been 10/10 with me.
24. Truth is I love my gear, but I could just as well use alternatives for every link in the chain except for myself.
25. They usually have pics of the actual object under the listing. You can shoot them an email for more info or ring them.
