1. Ta guys! I'm not the best player but it has been the only backup for the stingray for a good while. Once you're used to the different position it is not that hard (ooer)
2. Wear a wide sweatband and suck it up, or adjust strap to comfortable height. Acoustics are even deeper, I manage to play thrash metal on my cabbie.
3. Peavey T-40? Dont know about the neck though.
4. Stingray flat, Verellen preamp, SWR 750x. Sounds mahoosive! Does that count?
5. Maybe more people are inclined to respond if you give a hint on the reason for your request?
6. Check out the ibanez ATK range! There are a few for sale on here and they are great alternatives for Stingrays. One example: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/233476-ibanez-atk-700-in-translucent-blue-5-piece-neck-flamed-maple-top-swamp-ash-made-in-korea/page__pid__2414824#entry2414824
7. Just found this blog, good read and should be familiar to the brits http://diaryofabassguitar.wordpress.com
8. Paul Barker of Ministry 90's era I think: [Img]http://www.hollowbodybass.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/10/barker2.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> Bassplayer on last year's comeback tour was playing a fenderbird through a marshall head iirc.
9. Cool! Now add one of these: http://musichallroma.it/image/cache/data/TECAMP/BAD%20CAB-500x500.jpg
10. Ah the 1x15 may be what's bugging you. A somewhat clearer sounding 2x12 cab may give you more definition and cut through, as well as helping with volume due to larger speaker surface. An other option still is adding a 2x10 if shlepping 2 cabs is an option. This in addition to all of the above ofcourse
11. Where's the 'if I found a fender round the house I'd bin it' option?
12.
In short (see what I did there?), if the lead singer is a short-arse with a small ego, you are going to make him look tiny, a particular problem in genres like HM where the macho image is sometimes part of the deal.
Rubbish comment. Ronny James Dio, Glenn Danzig to name a couple. HM is no more 'boy band image' affected than any other popular music. There are commercial acts whose image precedes musicianship (i.e. Poison, Motley Crue, Cradle of Filth) but they are far outnumbered by the people that try to make energetic powerful guitar oriented music and don't care as much about looks.
13. Bring a stack taller than you. Hand out goggles as safety measure against flying debris.
14. I had Ernie Ball strings break on me or go dead within a fortnight. Love DRs! I use their DDTs in near-standard tuning. The lo-riders I used to use are good too, but I found the hi-beams too zingy. Not enough clout.
15. A five string V would make sense though!
16. " Finish: Yellow Top, Black & White Checkerboard Back & Sides" Mine has a yellow back, checks just on the side. So far for collector's item value.
17. Great looking bass! My '96 SR5 also has a matte pg.
18. P J Rick Ray 'bic V Dingwal MTD Aaaand derivatives...
19. Roll back the bass and treble: viola! Mid boost!
20. I keep the Aural Enhancer on the SWR at 11:00, Gain at 13:00, Master as needed and the rest at noon. The pedal preamp is there for taste, so scoop or bump to taste. Buttons are fun, try them!
21. "I have vague money-no-object GAS for a bass that may not even exist - a long-scale 5 string" Flying V in CAR with white pg. It's called a V why is there not one with V strings on?
22. Second one, but the teardrop should be completed by the last fret, not the base of the neck. Looks like a plan!
23. It's lovely! Regular shape for the SR5 pickguard btw.
24. Megan Fox.
25. Mxr bass comp here. On all the time for a little limiting. Easy to set up!
