1. Decent headphones do help, the sennheiser HD25-1 and beyerdynamic dt770 pro 80 ohms are recommended for bass practice also. Powered studio monitors are great at home! I bought myself a pair of Argons for Christmas last year and they perform well above expectation. Edit: speling nod gud
2. Wish him all the best, even though he declined my order for a humbucker last year.
3. The taper not making it to the nut shouldn't affect your tone negatively. In fact there are string manufacturers that specialise in strings that taper off between bridge and nut. It facilitates a super low action setup! So it's a feature, not a flaw.
4.
Forgot to show my yellow bass
That is my yellow bass! (Or quite possibly one just like it)
5. Lighter fuel works on nearly anything. If an overnight soak seems to lack results, induce heat.
6. Thanks for the elaborate reply! I'll need to sell some stuff before I can afford this though. Don't put it on hold but I will definately keep track of this.
7. It's lovely! How is the mids pre-shape and do you have the footswitch for it?
8. Get you to a shop and try Zvex stuff. Go at a quiet time like a weekday morning, bring your gear and try various cabs. Then ask everyone in the shop for advice. Try the stuff they come up with. Purchase when certain, but make sure you get a money back warranty should it not work out. Or test the fuzzrocious gear at a near BCer.
9. A shotgun Drag it behind the car for a week. Use it to survive the zombie Apocalyps. Replace your 3 wood golfclub with it. Competitive canooïng. Wakeboarding! Doorstop. Mount wheels for radical skateboard axe-ion.
10. If money stretches, get both the combo and 410. You'll be ready to rock any venue or festival! Do check if the ohmage will work out before buying.
11. Memorable.... that's pretty subjective and my memory is dodgy at best. Something like Anthrax's Caught in a Mosh seems to stick. Not all great lines are loud and busy, and not all loud and busy lines make a memorable song. I like em way louder and busier than the examples from OP though
12. Maybe a Zvex distortron? I love mine, from the wide sweep over OD tones I foundmine pretty quick.
13. There's one thing different since taking the picture though: I have all settings on the envelope filter at noon.
14.
What is EVAR?
As long back as people can remember. Mostly coinciding with the start of the internet.
15. Here's a vote for looking at Hartke amps aswell as the TC, Markbass and Ashdown gear. Peavey 410 or 210 cabs are awesome, a bit heavy but nigh indestructable. And cheap! I use an SWR amp, they sound great to me, very fast!
16. Get you to a better headphone shop, bring some good music that you are very familiar with and compare the lot. A £20 headpiece will NOT sound like a £150 one if you are discriminate about your monitoring. Listen for the hard to spot details, the stuff you lose when converting from wav to mp3 or like the meat of your finger hitting a string finished by the clack of a corner from your nail just clipping it. A decent headphone will let you check a monitor mix for levels and pan-ing. Please stay clear of the "hi-fi" cans. Those are made to sound pleasant, not anywhere truthfull. On your budget check out -Beyerdynamic dt770 pro 80 ohms -sennheiser hd 25 - 1 And their competition One of these will take your music farther than any Beats, Skullcandy or other hyped up crap fashion brand. Also, enjoy the search
17. I don't use strings on my bass anymore, they're just not worth the hassle.
18.
Yes, their tele is hindering our music
No, you are disturbing the peace in their home. That's bad mmmmmkay.
19. Am I wrong when stating that bookshelf speakers sound a wholesome lot better on a solid stand instead of tucked on a shelf?
20. Could you pry the knobs off to put them back on 180°rotated? That'll scare them shitless.
21.
Mostly Fender
Thanks, now I know I can pass without feeling I missed out
