1.
I also discovered that a further coat of glitter can be added by double tracking (or double recording) the vox with slightly different levels of delay and other fx on each. You can see how well all that works by my tasteful offering this month!
That's not a million miles away from what I do. I've use a vst that splits the vox and minutely delays and detunes the copied vox to thicken the sound. It also pans the 2 tracks slightly left and right. If you were to hear one of my vocal tracks without effects it would be enough to put you off listening to music for life!
 2.
So here's my entry - https://soundcloud.c...s/looking-ahead From the picture I've taken the idea of a man who breezes through life doing whatever he likes regardless the consequences and then finally turning round to see the devastation left in his wake. If I'm honest its a bit of a rush job - I just got over the flu and I've got a busy week next week so I had to rush it out. It's by far the entry I am least satisfied with - I had to write and record all the vocals tonight. Some day I'll find some time to finish the song properly. Some excellent entries already, by the way!
I've got a job interview this week and vowed I wouldn't faff anymore with my entry but I gave it another listen this morning and was mortally embarrassed by the vocals. I haven't got time to rerecord but I've remixed them and have smothered them in effects in a desperate and vain attempt to cover up their obvious deficiencies.

 4. Bought strings off Sam. Nice guy, good communications and the strings arrived quickly. Recommended
 5.
That flu is a bassid! I had it & had me off work for an entire week (Thursday - Thursday) & just got rid of the cough that it leaves you with. Good luck with it.
Cheers :-) It's been years since I was last ill so I'm not sure how to deal with it. After much deliberation I've decided that wallowing in my own self pity is the best course of action!
 6. I thought I'd give this a quick bash - its just a random bass harmonics thingy but its the thought that counts, I suppose! https://soundcloud.com/rikki-boyes/basschat-doodle
 7. I'm glad I'm not the only one - I've hit a brick wall. It doesn't help that I've just come down with the flu!
 8.
Pray do tell how Dingwall have defeated the force of gravity
I would imagine the fact that 2+2 headstock reducing the length of the neck would see a slight improvement in neck dive. I suppose the fanned frets and longer scale length may negate that though. There are many other factors that would have an effect, of course
 9.
When i saw the picture i got the vibe of someone living close to the edge (especially after hearing the sad story of the man in the picture) so that's kind of what I've taken inspiration from. I've got a basic structure down and I kind of know how I want it to sound - but we'll see how successful i am. Like Doctor J I'm getting a kind of funk vibe going on. When i listen to what I've got so far it doesn't sound much like the picture, but its what I came up with while looking at the picture. The song doesn't look like it'll lend itself to verbose lyrics but I'll try to put some vocals in to tie it closer to picture. We'll see how it turns out.................. I may well throw the toys out of the pram and start from scratch on a completely new song!
10. That was astonishing. Despite the gimmicry it was musically quite pleasant too.
 11. It's a very nice gesture - thanks Mornats!
 12. Thanks for the comments!:-) The bass was a G&L L2000 Tribute - both pickups, parallel mode, passive mode. I love G&L's - they have a great ballsy tone!
 13.
And the best rubbish joke in there is that Exhibit A is an A chord.
I've seen this sketch quite a few times and I never picked up on that!
 14. This song started life as my first entry in the monthly composition competition but I was never happy with it. I found a singer who has provided new vocals and lyrics which to me have improved the song. I've also remastered the song. https://soundcloud.com/rikki-boyes/scylla Any comments welcome.
 15. I really liked that - there's nothing I could find to criticise.
 16.
Bloody hell, this is what the car looked like after being "struck by a subvortex, which generates the highest winds, and some of which were moving at 175 mph within the parent tornado. Their Chevy Cobalt was distinguishable as a vehicle to the first responding sheriff's deputy only due to its single intact wheel, as it had been compressed into a ball of metal after the tornado tumbled it approximately half a mile". https://en.wikipedia...Samaras_Car.jpg
Wow that's horrible. Very sad.
 17. Well done Skol. A worthy winner!
 18.
Always enjoy reading these every month. Thanks Douglas.
I was just about to post exactly that.
 19.
Sorry to hear of your problems, but my point still stands - It would have been sorted quicker if you'd had the time to chase them up.
Why on Earth should he have to chase it up? He should only have had to ask Warwick once to correct their error.
 20. Voted - tough choice! Great stuff guys!
 21.
Well here's mine - https://soundcloud.c...s/take-the-jump Apologies as usual for asking you to sit though my vocals again! The lyrics came off a bit more pretentious than I intended - sorry!
I've tried remixing mine as the fuzz bass was dominating the mix. I'm not sure if I've improved things or just made things worse but I promise I'm going to resist the temptation to fiddle any more!
 22. Haha that made me laugh!
 23. I hope SoundCloud doesn't go down. I've only just started using it and I think it's great. Simple to use, convenient and lots of great features. My only criticism is the limited features when using a mobile phone.
 24.
i started a bass line but it only lasted 60 seconds..... i think i'm in the wrong thread
Haha!!!
