  1. Def try the cc company. it took me nearly a month to get a refund from Bax when they were trading
  2. I have the alpha omega amp, and you can get all sorts of distortion, fuzz and overdrive out of it, from subtle gain to full on
  3. 2nd week in a row playing at Market House in Maidstone on Saturday (with a different band). Not quite as good as last week, it was quieter but picked up for the last hour and so ended well. Had to ditch the IEMs half way through and go back to my ear plugs. I think it was due to having to stand so near to the PA and these were drowning out the IEMs. I keep thinking about getting a Quad Cortex, but then talk myself out of it with gigs like last night with drinks getting spilt near the equipment. This venue has a good barrier between the crowd and band but still doesn’t stop the flying drinks! . I used the bare minimum equipment of bass & amp last night and I thought it sounded good. I just changed the drive setting on my amp for the heavier songs. ive next weekend off before 5 gigs in April.
  4. What FRFR can are you using? One of my bands puts everything through the PA and I’m considering getting the Headrush 112 for on stage monitoring and not taking an amp & cab anymore. The guitarist has the 108 version for his monitor.
  5. They do have some random sales on there. i picked up a Darkglass 210 combo amp for £480 the other week. Unfortunately I didn’t like it and it went back, but I’ve no idea why it was priced so low, when all other shops sell it for around £1k. took ages to get a refund though
  6. Played at The Market House in Maidstone last night, which is my favourite venue in the local area. The pub was packed and gig went really well. Only downside was that I got a parking ticket in the loading bay, which was annoying and I’ll be appealing that tomorrow. I'm playing in the same place next Saturday with a different band, which I’m looking forward to.
  7. Just won a Boss Katana Go on Guitar Giveaway and it should be being delivered tomorrow. I was hoping to win a Quad Cortex, but a Katana Go is nice too 😃
  8. Played at Drakes in Maidstone on Saturday, and it was the first gig I’d had with this band since December. It went well overall, but we were playing outside in the courtyard and it was freezing! I had to put a jumper back on a couple of songs in. There were plenty of people there, but mainly they stayed by the patio heaters rather than come up dancing. As usually happens, those people came to life at 11.30 just as we were heading towards the end of the set! The outside area had had a makeover since we last played there, and decking had been installed, along with a raised stage area which was nice. A good, but cold gig overall. We finished with a rocked up version of Livin La Vida Loca which was quite amusing. I’d also installed some Schaller strap locks earlier in the day and was pleased with them.
  9. This was an awesome event. Got to meet Sheldon Dingwall as well which was pretty cool.
  10. Went to see Kasabian at Shepards Bush Empire last night for a War Child gig. They were awesome as always, and it was great seeing them in such a small venue. Support band was Blossoms who I had never heard of, they were also great and I’ve enjoyed listening to them today.
  11. Andertons are hosting a masterclass with Nolly & Sheldon Dingwall in Guildford on 27th Feb, £10 a ticket. i bought a ticket, it’s not going to help my GAS for an NG3 in Celestial Blue!
  12. The poly tune clip on is awesome, I wouldn’t be without it It’s far more accurate than the one on the Sansamp
  13. I used to have the original Terror 500 head as well, it was a great amp and very loud with the cab,but I moved it on a couple of years ago. I find that the cab sounds a bit muffled when the distortion is on from the Darkglass amp, so I have ordered a Darkglass Microtubes combo which is arriving this week. Due to random website pricing it was about £300 cheaper to buy the 2x10 combo than it was to buy a 2x10 cab.
  14. I played with The Paper Castles at Market House in Maidstone on Friday for valentines. The gig went pretty well, its the best local venue to play at in my opinion and it was busy. Ive been playing with these guys since September and now settled in with the setlist etc. Im now in two bands, as my other band doesn’t gig too much I managed to join this second band. However it’s quickly turning into number one band as it has a lot more gigs. We played a softer mix of dance, pop and rock ( 3 piece band), which is a nice contrast to the full on heavy rock of the other band (4 piece). Im getting some good use out of my Tech 21 Steve Harris pedal, as this band is softer I don’t need the heavy distortion from my Darkglass Alpha Omega amp. I’ve also been getting good use out of my 5 String Ibanez, as the extra string is helping with the more dance oriented songs. A good night all in all, albeit didn’t get home until 1.30 Rubbish picture of rig attached!
  15. Good news, it is a bit cheaper than the first edition as well. i had one and sold it, and then regretted selling it so I might grab another one.
  16. I don’t think I ever did register the warranty. I’ve had it since they were released so I would think any warranty would have expired anyways
  17. It’s just the unit on its own, not daisy chained to anything. I noticed it with a new active bass, need to try it with my old bass and see if that is the problem. as an aside I keep looking at getting the Tech 21 fly rig. I need a few FX in my band but haven’t got the patience for a big digital multi FX unit
  18. I love mine and use it all the time. I’ve started to notice that it doesn’t fully mute when I user the tuner though, which is annoying. It’s not the note from the bass coming through, more like a weird pulsing noise.
  19. Hoping to get a ticket for this. Also was at the reunion shows in ‘97. I was 17 then and now feeling old!
  20. There’s also the Roland Boss shop near Tottenham Court Road station. I’ve been in there before and heard them talking to customers on the phone.
  21. They already had them when I joined, however I think they were from Temu and £13 each from what they said. They have different colour settings, and powered by USB - C and are very effective, but they are very flimsy and lightweight. We use something similar in my other band, but usually have them round the drum kit, as seen in this picture.
  22. 1st gig of the year for me (and first in about a month) at The Duke Of Edinburgh in Maidstone. Nice venue and friendly staff etc. we had a decent space to play, it was a bit quite which we put down to the time of year, but those who were there enjoyed it. I am now used to playing my 5 string (after 30 years of playing 4 strings). The landlord booked us for a summer outdoor event, so that was a big positive.
  23. I was looking to order a V7 from Andertons and they said it would take 6 months as it would be made to order, and then sent to the UK on a very slow boat!
  24. Went to see Culture Club at the O2 last night. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I thought it was very good. it was my wife’s choice to go (I had to go with her after all the times I’ve made her come and see Iron Maiden with me lol) it was a good production and Boy George was in good voice. Mikey Craig was playing a nice 5 string Fender Jazz, the bass was very prominent in the mix and I enjoyed listening to that.
  25. I bought an Ibanez SRMS625EX in the summer which had 5 strings and fanned frets. I had never played a 5 string or fanned frets before. I got used to the fanned frets straight away but it had taken me longer to get used to the extra string, but now I have, I love the bass and the frets
