We had our first gig as a new band (The 77’s) last night at The Oak Tavern in Sevenoaks. it went really well, the place was packed and the crowd seemed to really enjoy it. We had a few errors here and there but nothing terrible. couldn’t have asked for anything more from a first gig. I had to hire a head for the night as my recent purchase was faulty, but the hire amp did the job.

New amp opinion/advice - Darkglass, Blackstar or Orange
markbunney replied to markbunney's topic in Amps and Cabs
Well after initially being pleased with the LBT it is going back to the shop as faulty I used it at rehearsal last night but the sound kept cutting in and out all the time. I initially thought it was due to guitarists new wireless system conflicting with mine but it wasn’t. disappointing, but I am glad I found out before our gig tomorrow night! luckily I’ve been able to hire an amp at short notice -

Good first impressions, but haven’t had much time on it yet. very clean sounding compared to my old Terror Bass. As others have mentioned, it goes from quiet to loud very quickly, but can manage this through the compressor. taking it to rehearsal this week, and then gigging with it in Friday so will post more after that. -

Thanks. weight not really an issue, I had a terror bass head before and that was ok, plus it will be transported in the car anyway -
Thanks. I used to have the all black aerodyne jazz bass and loved that, so have been looking into these new ones.

What are those aerodyne basses like?

Hi all I am looking for opinions/advice on which bass head to purchase. I have just sold my Orange Terror Bass mk1 which I had been using for 12 years as I had got a bit bored with it. For context, new amp will be used for a pub rock covers band with a Fender Jazz Bass special and Orange SP212 cab (for now, I might get a new cab depending on what head I end up getting). I don’t use any other effects at the minute, but am also considering getting a Helix Stomp for distortion, compression and chorus, again this depends on what amp I get. I have been looking at the following options and would be grateful for any opinions good or bad: 1. Darkglass Alpha/Omega 500. This looks and sounds great from the videos I have seen, but I have read several reviews that they are unreliable and stop working a lot. 2. Blackstar unity 700. Also sounds good from the few review videos out there. Doesn’t seem that popular though and I can’t find many real users videos. They all seem to be from endorsees or employees. 3. Orange Terror Bass mk2. My old terror bass did the job well enough. Thanks for reading and for any advice.

Are there day tickets for Download 2023?
markbunney replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
Metallica are playing 2 different sets on 2 different nights of the festival. It is rumoured to be the fastest ever selling Download and may sell out. Might be worth thinking about buying the weekend arena only ticket to make sure you get one, and to see Metallica twice -

I went to that show last night. Was on Richards side and very jealous of the rig!! wouldn’t fancy trying to get it in the boot though!!! the IPlayer coverage is good, but it was 100 times better in person -
Clichéd songs you feel you got to play, but don't want to

Most of our set has been mentioned in the posts above 😂 -
Try looking on the London Stadium website, they looked like they had decent seats still for sale

I would recommend getting them, if nothing else it will stop your ears getting worse. sound quality is just like a turned down version of what you would normally hear. I generally find I hear my bass more clearly than when I don’t have the plugs in. we had our first gig in 18 months on Saturday and I took my plugs out for one new song, and couldn’t wait to put them back in as it was so loud.

Don’t knock Somewhere In Time!

It’s that your ears change shape over time. I am on my third pair, and need to replace those now as they don’t quiet seal as well as they used too.
-
Another recommendation for ACS Custom plugs. I got the Pro 26 last time and they are great. Although they are now 4 years old and I think need replacing as they don’t fit as well as they used too.
ok. No pics yet as I've not had the time. opened the package at approx. 4.30 and I must say, it is rather good. Fantastic paintwork, proper metal scratchplate, a bit heavy but no heavier than my Aria SBR150 I would say (I've not weighed it yet) The Hammers logo is painted on and lacquered in. The neck is a dream. Yes it is big, as big as I've played on a 70s P Bass but it's the perfect shape for me. I had a 57 reissue Les Paul that was similar. Big neck but a perfect shape. Karl, you are more than welcome to come and try it, but I'm in Dover and it's a bit of a trek but the kettle will be on. Soundwise, P bass on steroids. Flats are amazing. They have an almost roundwound zing to them but they are heavy. I love em. A very 70's contour on the back (ie not much) I'm off out again now so I will post pics later today. The fit and finish and feel of the neck are first class. If anyone dares to diss the current crop of Mex guitars I would say they don't know what theyr're talking about. £875 on interest free over 9 months, well spent. Have I been the person to buy it first in the whole of the UK?
Hi, have you played the last SH signature bass? If so, how would you say the weight and neck width/thickness compare with this new one? Thanks
