  1. hi, ive got acs custom e15 plugs (and have just ordered some pro 17's), they cut everyting down by 15 decibels but i find i hear my bass much clearer with them. They are not cheap (£140), but well worth. Plus not having ringing ears at the end of a gig, and not eventually going deaf is priceless.

  2. Ive got the Steve Harris signature P bass and its a pretty authentic replica of the one he used in the 80s (as seen in Live After Death and Maiden England videos). He has also been using the signature model in the British Lion promo videos and recent live shows.

When his house was up for sale a couple of months ago, this bass could also be seen in one of the pictures in the estate agents particulars! :)

  3. I put seymour duncan quarter pounders and a metal pick guard on my P bass. This was my attempt to modify my bass into the Steve Harris signature bass that was out at the time.

I still think the pickups sound great, but not so sure about the metal pick guard anymore - it doesnt seem to be to everyones taste :)

As a result ive put the original white guard back on and i now think it looks much nicer! I think my tastes have changed with age!

  4. Heading back from ACS Custom in London. Ended up ordering Pro 17'S in the end, which should give a bit more reduction than my old ER 15's. Hopefully should arrive in a couple of weeks.

Good service as well. I would definately recommend them.

  5. Well i have an appointment on tuesday at acs london to get some new plugs, the guy i spoke to on the phone said we could discuss the most suitable db reduction when i get there so ill you know what i end up with.

Just need to choose a colour now. I went for clear last time but that doesnt mix well with ear wax :(

  6. My ER-15's need replacing as they dont fit as tightly as they used to. ACS have recommended Pro27's for me as a play about 5 hours per month between 100 and 115 decibels.

27 decibel reduction seemed a bit excessive to me as i always got on fine with my 15's. Has anyone on here used the 27's? How do you get on with them?

The only major currency that has weakened against sterling in the past year is the Yen. So Japanese instruments should be coming down in price quite appreciably. MIJ or CIJ Fenders should be opening up a big gap in terms of affordability vs US made. Also Japanese manufacturers such as Ibanez should be getting cheaper.

Definately the case with Ibanez. I bought an RG2550Z guitar 3 years ago for £800. 12 - 18 months ago the price was a grand, now its back down to £850. Maybe i should have a look at a Japenese Fender P instead. My other two Fenders are CIJ and they are great instruments.

  8. I've had one of these for about 15 years and it was my first half decent bass after my Encore P copy starter bass.

I've been surprised at how little it has held its value over the years. For a USA made neck thru body bass i would have thought it would be worth more than the £200 or so that they seem to make second hand.

Mine currently needs the pick ups and bridge putting back on (i had grand ambitions of upgrading it but never got round to it) and i was considering selling it, but once it has had a set up and new strings etc it doesnt really seem worth bothering for the amount it would make.

Has anyone else had one of these or had experience with one? What do/did you think of it.

I've had a good look round here and on the net but can't find a great deal of info about them. So can only assume they were not too popular.

    Edit:

Well, here she is! Retrieved from my parents house.

I am going to attempt to get her up and running again. Needs a new nut, the pickups reseating and a good clean. I'm optimistic that all the electronics still work!

Hopefully will be gigging with it soon :)

  9. Not a bad gig for us on saturday at the duke of wellington near boston. Interesting pub in the middle of nowhere by a caravan park.

A very drunk chap at the end kept shouting that we should go on x factor and that simon cowell would "definately" sign us up.

Quite flattering really but im not sure if mr cowell is looking to add an ageing rock covers band to his roster :)
