Itu hits the nail on the head. The ADSR of a sax (the way the note starts, continues and fades away) is controlled throughout by the breath. The strings of your bass have an initial 'pluck' then gradually (or quickly) fade away. Basically you can control the way the note is played throughout it's duration on a saxophone, but without something like an ebow, all you can do on bass is pluck it. There's all sorts of possible solutions available with an ebow, eq, volume pedal. To be honest I think a bari sounds best when it's HONKED staccato. Flats and foam is probably the simplest way to get a similar tone.

It's fine, it's just the earlier bridge with wooden extenders; it's fiddly to adjust and I was considering a full-circle which won't fit it. I'll get the Stagg ordered!

Thanks for your input! I’m currently using a NS CR4M on most gigs as we rarely play places with enough space for the doghouse. Id like to replace the NS with the Yamaha but at the mo Yamaha are refusing me a replacement bridge and I have no stand or case. Just gotta keep telling myself it was a bargain!! Is the Stagg stand the generic ‘EDB’ thing or is it something other?

Hi everyone, So I bought the cheap SLB100 off the classifieds here as a better bridge between my EUB and upright playing, but there's the bass and a bow and that's it. I'm getting a bag custom built for it, but I'm after a stand. Do you have experience of the EUB stands on the market? Stagg? K&M? Kinman? Ingles? Do you use any with an SLB100? I just want somewhere to prop my bass when not in use. Thanks for your input and wisdom! Please see my thread searching for a case here:

I'm not stuck on it being a bag, but I'd prefer it. I'd rather have a simple, reliable solution more than anything! It's the Yamaha SLB100 I picked up from the classifieds. There's no bag and Yamaha want £500 for their official softcase but the reviews are poor. Custom might prove to be the best solution since it's 170cm long with the endpin retracted.

A few companies came back to me: Swan Flight, Trifibre, HS Bags and Potterton Pacs have said they could do it for me. Looking at their previous work, Trifibre are a strong leader. Swan Flight were suggesting a CNC cut foam inner to a flight case but that might be a bit overkill for my needs. I'll update this thread but I've made no decisions yet.

Hi everyone, I've been chatting to Trifibre about them building me a bag for an EUB and so far they're proving pretty good. Has anyone any experience requesting a custom bag from these guys, or have you used someone else that you can recommend? Ideally I'm after a bag, but any transportation solution ideas will be welcomed!

During solo performance or even practice, reverb adds a bit of space and depth to my sound. It makes it feel a bit more dramatic and gives it a warmth and presence that is wholly necessary. When playing with a group, I very rarely use any reverb.

Does anyone know of a slimline gigbag that would be suitable?

I gave up trying to source a part for my A35 after hitting brick walls at every stage. I'm sorry I can't offer a solution but I too didn't (and won't) be buying Hartke again.

I use a hercules clamp for an iPad 2. It's on that holds opposite corners and springs shut. It's great.

We recently found some dirt cheap digs in a hostel / BnB place just by googling 'hotel' & 'town' and being patient (looking through a few pages). It used Google booking (so was easy and trustworthy) and turned out to be a really nice room for £40; all the AirBnB in the area was around £80.

DB in a Blues/Country/RnR trio here. Around 13 songs for us; most have a solo over a 12 bar, but they're relatively short songs... that is until Rob decides to play all 1127 verses of 'Casey Jones'

I'd look at adding a bit of dirt, too. I can get my carved thumping beauty sounding like a P bass with a bit of drive.

I play in a acoustic band and I've replaced the 17 filters with 10s recently. 17s were great for full band stuff, but too much for acoustic. I love the versatility of the plugs!

How long are you giving it? I think mine has taken a good few minutes from booting and connecting everything to appearing the the X-Air App. Now my external router and xr18 are racked and wired II'll just give it power and wait. And wait. And wait. And voila! And subsequent connections don't take half as long. It's like the thing that's taking the time is the router initially shaking hands with the XR18, but once it does its fine.

I'd be tempted by one of those 90s EMU units. The piano sounds are nowhere near a decent softsynth but they're certainly passable for stage work, and I imagine the synths aren't far removed from what was being used on these records. I've used a lot of tech live but I always prefer hardware as too many times machines have just not behaved.

The band sound so incredibly, unbelievably amazing that any weekend warrior might get jealous, don his black hat, crack our password and... CRANK THE GAIN!!!!! Or not. I think we're safe
