Pah! Amateurs! Last set of strings I bought cost £218. (Admittedly they were a set for an Upright 🙂) For a bass guitar, the last set I bought cost £50 (Thomastiks) but that was in 2014 and they're almost broken in by now.

To be fair. Tork was actually quite an accomplished musician on the Greenwich Village scene. He'd worked with Pete Seeger and heard about the casting for the Monkees from Stephen Stills (who'd been rejected for a part)

I would pay good money just to watch Danny tuning up. The work he did with John on the BBC's Transatlantic Sessions is well worth checking out (and features a stellar rendition of Solid Air).

CDs backed up to FLAC format and then converted to mp3 on an iPod Classic with a 512 Gb Solid State Drive for listening to. Some FLAC downloads from Bandcamp, but only a few.

I had a similar issue with my Jack Casady, the tool in the OP was about as much use as a bucket of warm spit. I then got hold of the'Jack the Gripper' tool cheap and it worked very well. (I subsequently applied some threadlock and haven't had an issue since).

I still have a Tokai VSB80 PJ that I bought from Chappells back in the early '80s and a suede own brand strap I got at the same time. I think they were absorbed by Yamaha who now have a showroom in Wardour Street.
