  1. Still grateful, and checking all of your suggestions folks....thanks...
  2. If it were just the combo, it would have to be around the 500 mark....it is in mint condition, and almost unused....hope this helps...
  3. So much appreciate ALL of you for the time, help and suggestions you have put forward. I have looked at all the makes and models you have reccomended, and now from being in a position of ' what shall I do,' I am actually spoilt for choice.... Brilliant chaps, and thank you so much..... It's also nice to know this thread could prove really useful to so many other folks after something similar....
  4. Any opinions on the Sandberg p bass....and what's the likely used price on one of them..
  5. I have decided to go for a P bass, but realise a new or second hand American made Fender for £500 is not going to happen, so what is the next best thing, eiher new or second hand that is as good as or even better? There must be one or two gems out there that are ignored or undiscovered as they have the wrong name on the headstock.. There is the obvious in Squier, but anything else that is worth a squint....
  6. Bonjour......
  7. It's the Ashdown ABM Neo 4x8 so there is no raised handle on the top....just a counter sunk handle that is flush with the enclosure...
  8. Well then...I have ordered the none slip mat that JapanAxe posted up as a remedy....will let you know how I get on with it....Thanks again guys....really good to know help is there when you need it...
  9. And tonight's STAR PRIZE goes to.........JAPANAXE. That has got to be worth a bit of a go....£1-99 delivered.....Bonza..... Nice one centurion...
  10. Thought about the bungee thing, but no ideal places to hook it too, either on the amp or cab, but thanks anyway...
  11. Barney....Mudpup.....Badderer..... You are extremely insane...
  12. Very clever Dannybuoy....very clever.....that's got to be worth a try, but....is the handle stopping the foam moving, which in turn holds the amp in place, as I haven't got a handle on top, and I want to avoid glueing stuff to the cab... Velcro.....another idea I had not thought of.....nice one... You really are a bright bunch of young chaps....keep em coming....
  13. That's great guys...at least I know I don't have a poltergeist living in my amp now.... I tried a bit of foam cut from a gym mat, but the amp took the foam with it. Will try all of those suggestions and see what happens. Crazy as it sounds, but blue tac moulded round the feet of the amp to form little 'wells' for the feet to sit in might be the answer..
  14. I have two amps I use on a regular basis, both of which are very light weight D class, and that is the problem. Because they are so light, they just move across the top of the cab with the vibration as the volume is cranked up a bit...and I don't mean massive amounts of volume. In the good ole' days, amps were so heavy, they never budged as their own bulk kept them fixed to the cab, but with amps now weighing not much more than a bag of sugar, but capable of huge volume ( and therefore vibration,) I have had two amps hit the deck before I was halfway through the first set. I had no idea why this was happening, until I played a low A, and watched the amp slowly move forward. So...anyone else experience this, and what are your fixes, without nailing or super glueing it to the cab. All I can think of are these sort of none slip rubber pads you see on the dashboards of cars. I have been lucky so far...no damage, but an 800 quid amp smashing in to the deck sure aint my idea of a good gig... So, let me in on your secrets... Cheers.
  15. Anyone want to suggest a trade on this....... Four string P type bass would be nice...
  16. You might as well throw in Lessons In Love, The Sailors Hornpipe and Flight Of The Bumble Bee on top of Rythym Stick and Siir Duke...
  17. A few scales in different positions on the neck. This means you hear the bass as it is, and will not be influenced by how close the sound is to the original version of the riff you are trying to play. Also, knocking a few scales out means you try all strings in all positions on the neck. Play 'Doh Ray Me' etc at with a little bit of speed...(not the mind altering drug,) both ascending and descending and move up a semi tone each time you complete a run, and that will impress people more than kicking the arse out of the riff to Peaches or All right now...
  18. Thanks to all of you for your advice...It's certainly made be rethink pulling the trigger on these. I will deffo investigate some of the other speaker types mentioned in this thread.
  19. Cheers Les.....its just to enhance the kick a bit.... to warm up the low end a bit....
  20. Thanks for that chaps...all of you, but would you class them as full range, and would you consider a bit of bass drum thru them, or is that a no no.....
  21. Thanks JT... Good advice there...
  22. Not sure about these.... The band has the opportunity to buy a pair of Peavey speakers... ( I don't know if they are full range..so that's the first question.) I suppose, like a lot of people, I view Peavey as sort of entry to mid range gear that will do a job for you untill you can afford something better. Anyway...., this is what is on the cabinets... Front grill is marked up. PEAVEY BWX on a small plate at the bottom of the grill.. silver triangular logo with a red sort of brush stroke thing on it. The info on the back reads top to bottom.... PEAVEY RX Series. Max power 500 continuous. 1000 Program. 2000 peak. Black Widow Equiped. And then on a Bar coded label the following.... HYSYS 1RX. 4ohm. Serial Number E 1211453. Product 15006620. Also there is a rocker switch marked up as either Flat or EQ on the back. The fact they are loaded with Black Widows, makes me think they might be sort of the top end of this type of PA speaker. The chap wants £300 for the pair, which at first I thought was twice what they are worth, but with the above info, can any one tell me could they be worth this, and as mentioned earlier, are they full range, can they handle a bass drum at small venue volume levels...? I will be grateful for as much info / spec on these as poss. Thanks in advance. PS....in good condition as well !!!!
  23. Fold cooking foil....you can get it to an exact size and thickness, will not mute the sound, and it will mould to the contour of the wood.
