How about setting up 26 individual chat threads...' Venues in A '..... 'Venues in B ' and right through the alphabet too 'Venues in Z.' Using this method you could add venues alphabetically, having first checked they have not been already listed, and also find venues by city, town etc pretty quickly. It would mean 26 pages, with only address and post code and phone number entered by anyone listing a venue, as any comments on the venues would soon clog the whole thing up.... Just an idea..

Pete Oakley Music / Guitarsuperstore in Burton on Trent has just expanded into a really nice, and much bigger shop... Great people to deal with, and a wide range of guitars, amps etc. Check their site out.....

Some great opinions and responses here chaps..... Thanks again for all of this stuff, it's a great education for a pedal 'cave dweller' like me....

Hey Fleabag, and thanks for your comments.... The only kit I use is a Seymore Duncan pick up booster, a Stageclix radio system, and any day now a Mini Thumpinator. I presume, working from the guitar back to the amp, it will be radio receiver into the pick up booster, booster into the Thumpinator and then into the amp.... What do you think?

Thanks Mark... I thought JPJ meant there was some sort of specialist power supply needed.... I have a few of the 9 volt power supply that I have bought over the years...

Hey JPJ....that question has caught me off guard. I thought it would be a standard 9 volt mains supply lead. Is this not the case?

Really appreciate your responses chaps.... Max has already responded to me with price...£119, and a delivery time of a few days. On the strength of his quick response, price and the fact I might have it this time next week, I have ordered one...... I also love the fact that it's hand made. What really sold me is a short video on his site of a 4x10 cab being given some beans both before and after the Micro Thumpinator is used.... A real eye opener......check it out on the SFX site... Cheers chapz.

Thanks guys, I have already e mailed the company to find out price and delivery waiting time.....

I know nothing about this subject whatsoever, but I'm sure some of you guys do, so here we go. I read a review on a piece of kit called a MicroThumpinator, and from what I have read, and with my very limited understanding of all things 'tech,' they look pretty good. Is this a hi pass filter, and are there any good alternatives to this on the market. I like the idea of being able to remove some of the really low rumble that I seem to have no control over, and a low pass filter seems to allow you to select a frequency, and cut off everything lower than it. So to recap.... Is the Mini Thumpinator any good,or is there a good quality hi pass filter around that will do a similar or better job without breaking the bank ? One thing I hope for is ultra simplicity, so keep it straightforward to operate guys, as in 'on/off,' and as few knobs and buttons as possible. My amp is a Tecamp Puma 900, and my cab is a gen2 Barefaced Super 12t.... Thanks again fellas for reading this, and for any help or advice you can offer...........PS any links or reviews you can point me at would also be greatly appreciated....

Vintage p bass electrical problem.
jonnythenotes replied to jonnythenotes's topic in Repairs and Technical
Guys.... I can't thank you enough for that advice. I will get it looked at... Grangur...I am in Lichfield, Staffs.... Will keep you posted, and thanks again to all of you... -
I recently bought a 1974 P bass and a problem seems to randomly keep manifesting itself. Without reason, the volume tone seems to reverse its function, whereby turning it clockwise turns the volume down, instead of increasing it, and the tone control seems to lose all the bottom end when turned as if trying increase it. This is accompanied by humming and crackling when touching either of the two knobs. When you jiggle the guitar jack plug, it can fix the problem, and also, if you squeeze down on the scratchplate either side of the jack socket, this will also correct it. It has been in to my local guitar tech chap a couple of times, and he tells me that the pots are ok, and perhaps it is time to change the jack socket over. Before I do this, I thought I would check with you guys, as I really don't want to change anything on it if poss, as being a 74 model, original fixtures a fittings are what help retain its value. I have been told that the foil which covers the horn part of the inner scratchplate below the controls is a part of shielding/earthing/grounding, and also there is a crack in the scratchplate which starts at the Jack socket, and spreads to the last screw of the scratch plate... Would this have an adverse effect? It just seems odd that pressing down on the scratchplate at this point corrects the problem temporarily. Having said that, I got it back from the guitar chap today, and so far, it hasn't happened again, but I can't keep my fingers crossed at every gig that it won't occur again. Would sooner fix it once and for all, without putting any new parts in unless absolutely vital. Sorry for my vague description, but I am afraid it's the best I can do. Thanks..

Brilliant. Thanks chaps....

That's absolutely Brillo..... Love it.. -
The numbers on the back of my P bass pick ups are 180574. These are grey pick ups with the numbers stamped in ink. Does this mean 18th May 1974? I doubt this, as the Americans put there month in front of the date, which would make my theory a none sense as there is no 18th month with a fifth day in it... Also, the pots are stamped with the numbers 137 7352. I know the last four numbers mean the 52nd week of 1973, but what do the first 3 numbers mean....? Once again, any help and advice is always appreciated...

Over picking a string / Distortion.

Thanks for that Phil....... A great and in depth analysis of potential reasons for the problem, and ways to cure it... I'm very grateful for your time in putting the effort in to that... -
Over picking a string / Distortion.
jonnythenotes replied to jonnythenotes's topic in General Discussion
Thanks Big Red..... I am now pretty convinced that I'm the cause of this, and by a couple of tweaks here and there to pick up height, reducing the pre amp vol, lowering some of the eq levels to help calm the signal, and also being a bit less aggressive myself on the strings, , it might resolve this..... Thank you.. -
Where are we all playing this weekend...
jonnythenotes replied to jonnythenotes's topic in General Discussion
Well...you live and learn. I had no idea that was there Bluejay... Cheers -
Is there anywhere on this site that can tell me we where any of the bands that we are involved in are playing at the weekend ? Whenever I am not gigging, a close second is going to see a band, but usually it means staying local, and seeing bands I have seen before. Is it poss...with a bit of help from the moderators....to put together a gig guide of the bands we are all involved in ? It would be great to actually go and see some of the guys who contribute to this site, but in a gigging environment. It might be a bit of a pipe dream, but should be poss in this day and age. It would require... county, band name, name of venue and a post code. Once the weekend has passed, the page is stripped, and a new page would start to build again on the Monday.
