  1. Can they keep a lid on it for the sake of £XXXm? Probably not.
  2. As Dad3353 says, you're spoilt for choice with that budget, especially if you are happy to buy second hand. If you do buy used, you won't lose much money if you decide it doesn't suit you and move it on. Have a browse through the classifieds and see what takes your fancy. Personally I'm happy to gig my Sire, which cost around £600 new a couple of years ago - but then I wanted a 5-string precision, which are not that common second hand and within budget. Before that a spent a few years playing a Squier P-bass that cost me only £150 second hand from these forums. The quality of "cheap" basses is so much better than it used to be years ago. Perhaps do a little YouTube research and see which basses sound good to you for the type of music you'll be playing (precision, jazz, Musicman, Gibson EB, etc). Being a DB player you'll probably want a full scale bass (34" or above) rather than a short scale (30" or less) Now prepare yourself for 101 suggestions as to which brand and model to get...
  3. I'm fed up of being treated like a sex object. Watch the fingers, not the face! 😁 Seriously though, it's not something I'd consider doing. Take me as you find me, or leave me there. I don't even have a tattoo and stopped wearing an earring 30 years ago Good luck!
  4. Funnily enough (OP) my guitarist is in Martin Turner's band when he's not larking about with me. They even had to stop using the name "Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash", although all of the flight cases are still sprayed "MTWA". It's now "Martin Turner ex-Wishbone Ash" The lawyers made a lot of money on that one. Pretty sad really
  5. The Smell of Another Man's Funk Faffing in the Verses The Inevitable Originals (Some suggestions based on some weird packing up conversations tonight, and the OP)
  6. The J pickup in my PJ bass. It gets used for one song that we play in maybe 1 out of 6 gigs we do Followed by every other bass I own and very rarely play at a gig
  7. We've always been a narco-syndicalist commune. We take it in turn to act as sort of an executive officer for the week. But all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special bi-weekly meeting, by a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs, or by a two-thirds majority in the case of more major...
  8. What's the best post-it note for metal? Yes! Got it in first! 😜
  9. FTFY, with added passive aggression 😉
  10. Lovely condition and great price!
  11. Oh my goodness. That is pure pornography! I love the looks and thought of a Stingray, but a P-bass suits my band better, plus not enough strings. But still... phwoar! GLWTS

    Oldman Feedback

My son and I just went over to see Brian and a rather lovely Cort 5-string jazz. We left Brian there but took the bass with us! Lovely chap and a very smooth transaction. Thanks Brian! 😀 Edit: Forgot to say, I'm very jealous of Brian's "bass den" 😍
  13. Practice amps don't count, right?
  14. Just my Fender Rumble v3 500 combo, and the old Peavy Databass combo it replaced - which is buried under stuff in the garage, as a spare just in case Edit: I love how you've added a "cetera" option on the survey 😂
  15. Don't limit yourself with a pun. Just think of a name. Once you get known it really won't matter. Something memorable is better than a poor pun imho
  16. Another +1 for Sire. Mine's a PJ - a V7-5, although it looks like prices have gone up a bit since I bought mine and you might struggle to get a new one on your budget now
  17. Just got back from a lovely holiday in Florence and thought I'd share this beauty. It's a 5-string double bass from the Medici collection at the Galleria dell'Accademia, dating from 1715. The 5th string was actually added in 1901. In the museum it is standing next to a mid-18th century 3-string double bass. They are gut strings of course They have a fabulous collection of instruments, including several early keyboards, strings and woodwind (the serpent looked great). The gallery is the one that also hosts Michelangelo's statue of David

    Sire V5

I have a P7-5 (5-string P/J) and love it. Great bass for the money. Very nice pre-amp imho
  19. That's it. The postage is a bit high because he's based in Norway. You won't get a more accurate reproduction of Aria's original circuit anywhere else though
  20. I don't know if @Prostheta still comes on here, but he's your guy If/when he makes any black boxes he sells them via eBay
  21. There's not much to go on from your description, but just hazarding a guess - perhaps a machine head might be loose? Try wrapping an elastic band or a cloth around your tuners to see if that stops it
  22. How? What?! Eh?!! 😂
  23. I was gigging. Did I miss much?
