  1. The lights I bought from them have been great
  2. Tried a new battery in the bass? That's assuming that the lead test makes a noise ^
  3. There's a reason for that
  4. A drummer I play with swears by his P&D stool
  5. There are a couple of ways to wire a tone pot, one ("modern") being much more common than the other ("50's style" vintage), which would be even more unusual on a bass but not totally out of the question. The "vintage" wiring means that the tone could have a bigger influence on the volume too Photos would help
  6. ... and then connect that to the ground connector on your jack socket (the outer connector, not the signal connector that the tip of the jack plug touches)
  7. Not a Hercules stand, but I bought a multi-guitar hanger a while ago that had a warning about possible reactions with nitrocellulose. I cut up some old jeans and got the sewing machine out to make some mini "jeans legs" to slip over the hanger forks. (I even used orange thread ). It might not be quite as easy on a Hercules auto-grip stand though
  8. If this is half as good as mine then it's still excellent. As well as playing and sounding great (I put SD-QPs in mine) it also has a lovely tough paint finish that will keep looking good for years to come. The neck on mine is thin like a matchstick and fantastic to play
  9. Many have suggested the Fender Rumble v3 500 combo. I have had one for several years now and have never found it lacking in any situation. It does clean. It does gritty. It's cheap as chips. It's a one hand lift. Tbh I blummin love it
  10. It's taken me over half an hour to scroll through the huge list of vendors and uncheck all the boxes. I'm now left with the horrible intrusive floating orange privacy box. Insidious and seriously uncool!
  11. Fabulous. I love a bit of Thomas Dolby
  12. Given that probably half of the site members play in covers bands, do you not think that your question might be regarded as a little incendiary? I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you are not deliberately trolling, and possibly didn't consider your question before posting it
  13. And it's about time there were some standards on power sockets, not only for pedals but for other bits of kit -> +ve/-ve inner/outer, plug diameter, power rating, voltage, etc. How about just make everything use USB-C? Edit: AND make some robust, professional quality power supplies instead of the usual horrible cheap "wall warts" that only last a year or two of gigging!
  14. Squier or Fender to make an affordable 5-string precision Ah, too late, I bought a Sire (and love it)
  15. Queen - Live Killers The live version of Brighton Rock is so much more evolved/sophisticated/fluid than the original studio track. Fabulous album, and probably my favourite live album
  16. And as for awful covers, well any Lloyd's Bank advert in the last few years 🤮
  17. Which version? 😂 Actually the original S&G version was used on the early Dustin Hoffman film The Graduate
  18. Lovely playing @CiciBass. That's the only thing that matters, or is relevant
  19. No, it's plain nasty. Go back and listen to the original for as many times as it takes to cure you 😉
  20. Sounds like you need to print a QR code on your shirts. We have a laminated sheet with a QR code that takes people to our Facebook page - it's quite popular
  21. Road crew yes Band no
  22. This bass you're plugging straight into the amp - is it active? 😜 I had no pedals for years and years, but a project I was involved in for a while needed occasional use of some pretty strange effects. I bought a multi-fx - a Boss GT-6B. The project eventually folded but I kept the pedal. Most of the time it's on a "pass-thru" patch and only used as a tuner and mute between sets. However there are a few songs we do where I use effects, and it's nice to be able to set up a patch without having to add more pedals to a board. Stranger patches I have set up include a ring modulator/echo for the lawnmower noise at the start of Genesis - I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe), and an echo/wah/phase shift I use in Frankenstein by the Edgar Winter Group. My current favourite is the OctaFuzz patch. It's nice to be able to spice things up a bit, especially in a G-B-D trio
  23. The model seems fairly obvious (V7). The main concern is which colour! I'm still loving my P7 5-string version 2 btw (black and red tort)
  24. It's quite simple - if you're not playing a song then STFU. Save the noodling for the bedroom or maybe initial setup gear check. Sound check is not the place for it, let alone during the gig I'm so glad that I have the guitarist I do
