A bit of bass player diplomacy this morning. I'm not sure if one of the song suggestions would work. "I listened to XYZ this morning - might need a bit of arrangement to suit our lineup"

When do flaws/fades/wear/chips in a finish become mojo

Use some nail varnish remover -
My guitarer is also the main singist and owns his own PA

See if you can get your grandchildren to find it for you on "eye player" and take the batteries out of your hearing aid to keep it down a bit

Is the fret seated right down properly? Is there any movement when you press it down? A mate of mine was struggling with his 8 string last week having replaced a dodgy nut. Turned out the fret wasn't seated properly and needed a bit of superglue wicking in and clamping down

Confession: I fell asleep in the drum one, watched the bass one avidly, forgot about the guitar one

My YouTube suggestions are going to be full of darned bagpipes now. We played a few vids while tucking in to the haggis

I've just popped 2 Macsween original recipe haggises in the oven. Only 75 minutes to wait! It's not as nice microwaved. I'm not even a bit Scottish afaik Of course the address here in Leicester is "Ay oop 'aggis, me duck"

I received a DMX terminator from Amazon this week. Another planet-killing giant plastic bag. The contents are sitting on the bag at the bottom right

IMHO there is a world of difference between deliberately changing i.e. arranging, and CBA to learn it. #nutshell

Yes, learn both parts individually, but you need to know the bass part so you can play it on autopilot. The vocals always take priority so you need to concentrate on those during the performance. Luckily I only take the lead vocal on a few songs. I don't think it would be fair to subject the audience to too much of my voice

Whats the most ridiculous thing you have been asked for on stage?

On a number of occasions we've turned up at the Dog and Duck ready to rock the place, only to find a wake going on that the landlord omitted to mention. That is probably another thread though -
You wouldn't want to be in that band anyway. Future rehearsals would be a frustrating nightmare
-
Very interesting. I think 12mm ply would be more than stable enough. You could maybe get away with thinner - or it might end up weighing a ton

An idea? Wrap the neck in cling film then cast it in plaster. You can then take measurements, make cardboard templates, etc. from the positive form

You're so lucky to be spoilt for choice. That ash idea might be nice with a charcoal/grey stain and red filler

Back in the 80s we were once handed a beer mat upon which was written "A Mulititud of Angles" - that well known hit by the Eurythmics -

Our classic rock covers band played a pub in town. I suppose the name "Molly O'Grady's" should have been a clue. The landlady insisted we played Irish music, in a rather threatening manner and indicating towards the hefty bouncers, and also threatening to not pay us. We did Whisky in the Jar and winged our way through a couple of other songs the singer/guitarist vaguely knew. We got the money, got the hell out of there and never went back - despite the landlady ringing a few times to try to re-book us. Not a pleasant night at all! -
Brilliant programme. Nice discussion of bass as a key part of music, rather than just dragging the usual suspects in front of a camera. Obviously a few were featured, but more to give some context to the increased importance and prominence of bass in music since the invention of the bass guitar... and then continuing into electronic bass Catch it on iPlayer if you missed it

Not everything about the bass is great .....

Being in a band that predominately plays 60s & 70s we can get away with telling the audience where to go when they ask for Sex On Fire or Oasis - luckily! -

I can't stand Summer of 69 - it bores me poopless. However we do Hold Your Head Up by Argent which has got to be one of the most repetitive bass lines going, but I love playing it. My guitarist apologised for making me play such a "dull" part, but the incessant, repetitive bass line makes the song imho. I'm with @wateroftyne on this one -

What the heck is that bass doing laying on the floor too?! 😱
