1. I don't know if I've still got those patches on mine. It's certainly not an effect I'd want to use personally
2. Now that I just plain weird. Hours before the Midlands Bass Bash, I was frantically swapping resistors around trying to get a reasonable sound out of it. Then I finally decided to get rid of the resistors completely again and find out just how bad the overloading was. As I un-soldered the resistors I accidentally over-stressed one of the cables and it broke. Having re-made the broken connection... no distortion. The only issue now is that my passive Squier is about twice as loud as the active Aria. There definitely seems to be something up with the wiring. I'll have to see about getting a new molex connector and re-making all of the connections. I'm not convinced that it is making a good connection with the terminals on the pre-amp
3.
I've considered mounting my keyboard on a Segway
That would be cool if you had a big enough stage. If not, you'll just have to go straight over the guitarist's pedals - give him some "overdrive" he'll never forget
4. Having seen it earlier today, all credit to Andyjr1515 for taking it on. I'm sure you'll do your usual stunning work on it. I hope it survives the string tension test!
5. And also thanks to the D'Addario rep for providing some raffle prizes - nice one Si for getting him to come. Lovely 5 string Jazz too!
6. Thanks for arranging the bash Si. I had a great time and played some excellent basses. Not huge numbers this time, probably due to the lovely weather, but that meant more of the delicious cake for the rest of us! Looking forward to next year already
7. I once dep'ed for a band at a music festival with 4 days notice - backing a "name" keyboard player. That was fun, especially when we ended up playing a load of songs that were not on the list, and not many of those that were (that I had spent 4 days panicking to learn!).
8. I just bought some bass parts from Dan. Good communications throughout and he resolved a "packing oversight" very quickly. Great chap to deal with.
9. I once stood there, semi-inebriated, talking to a chap backstage where my band were appearing as the main act. There were a bunch of naked blokes on stage at the time doing a balloon dance. We had a good old chat, basically slagging off the dancers. I found out later that the chap was Dave Edmunds
10. I've got a couple of raffle prizes so don't forget your tickets
11. Looking forward to seeing it at the bash
12. At least once a fortnight a thread about string recommendations
13.
Get yourself a heat gun much easier than sanding. Just keep moving so you don't scorch the wood.
14. If you're just changing one, maybe fit a drop D tuner? Slightly more expensive than a straightforward tuner but really handy if you do any de-tuning Edit to say I recently fitted a Hipshot GB7 on my Indonesian Squier P-Bass Special. It was the "Mexican" one. However check your measurements if you think of getting one.
15. 1x singer with alcohol issues - never knew if he would turn up or in what state. Obviously performance suffered too 1x guitarist that could never end a solo without the rest of the band shouting "for f***s sake stop" 1x keyboard/band leader who after nearly 3 years of weekly rehearsal still thought it was a bit soon to start thinking about booking gigs Apart from those though, I've been in 2 bands for the last 30 odd years, same line up apart from the drummer (who over the course of 10 years turned from a nice chap into an egotistical and spiteful t**t!) The new one is cool

Peavey BW

It's a pretty hefty thing to have shipped from Europe though

Peavey BW
were you overally happy with it?
Yes. It was pretty powerful for its size and led a couple of friends of mine to seek one out for themselves. However, compared to the Rumble it is a little muddy and lacking in definition. It was a great amp and served me well (Peaveys are usually pretty bomb proof) but the Fender is half the weight, more refined - but not overly so... and plain has more balls on tap! Peaveys are (usually) good amps
18. I think you need an "extreme relic" award or something Not to my personal taste but very brave all the same. I personally prefer natural wear & tear
19.
Just ordered a 100w Rumble for small church hall type gigs. Hopefully it's enough.
There was one in the for sale section the other day...

Peavey BW

Before I got my current Fender Rumble 500 combo I used to use a Peavey Databass. It's very similar to the photo you posted and uses the same 1x15 BW speaker. I reconed it twice over its working life. It's a fairly simple matter of unbolting the big magnet from the old speaker and bolting it onto the new one. The cones have undergone a few revisions. The last one I fitted was definitely a later revision than the two older cones
21.
Anybody had chance to compare Rumble to Ashdown MAG, Hartke LH or Ampeg PF tone/soundwise?
I played a place a few times last year that had a Hartke LH1000 as a house rig with 1x15 and 4x12 cabs. It looked impressive but from the third gig onwards I used my Rumble in preference
22. I would have said mine has heft Great bottom end on it though - it doesn't need any boost on the bass tone control at all ime
