1. Ooo - I like that!
2. Looking fantastic! I love my shinto rasp too
3. We use a pair of Mackie 450s for our trio. We only put vocals through the PA and that is plenty at the volume levels we play at - mainly pub gigs. They are not too heavy, make a reasonable sound and are quite affordable second hand. As they are powered cabs we only need a mixer to feed a line level signal. Certainly worth a look
4. I bought one bass unseen just because it HAD been gigged for several years by the previous owner. It was a bass from a maker of variable QC, so I reasoned that if it made the owner want to gig it then it must be a good one
5. The BT7 is described as being for MIM Fenders, and was also the one that fitted my Indonesian Squier P Bass Special. However do double check the dimensions of your bass against the specs on the Hipshot website. It's a bit of a faff and slightly confusing but the information is on there
6. If you look at the top of the nut down onto where the allen key goes in, anti-clockwise (or "lefty") to loosten, clockwise ("righty") to tighten. Take it steady
7.
Oh and if its rattling on an open E its possible the nut is cut too low too!
Yes - I was going to say check that the (slighty thicker) string is sitting comfortably in the nut slot
8. Blimey. You could probably get two boards out of that. The fretboard I got for my guitar build wasn't planed either, but was probably a bit cheaper than yours. Planing is nice though - very therapeutic
9. I lasted about two minutes. Just, no.
10. As if that top horn wasn't crazy enough, the positioning of the tuners is just wild! Top drawer stuff
11. A lower rated fuse may be mounted on the circuit board if it's not in an chassis mounted holder Edit: Ah well there you go - Dad has the answer
12.
Hi, Norris A six string carved top archtop electric has been on my list for ages. Seeing the skill and work clearly put into this original build has made me have second thoughts!
As you've probably gathered, I can do slow & patient
13. It started looking nice and ended looking gorgeous. Cracking job Andy! An archtop bass is third on my to-build list
14. Obviously anyone who is still keen on compact cassette tapes has never had to dig one out of a car stereo. I don't miss them
15. If it's a fairly tight fit then superglue (other brands of cyanoacrylate are available). If it's not so tight then epoxy - I'd loosely locate the pickup to ensure the threaded insert is held in the right place, depending on the amount of play
16. 24 due to a number of factors (Maths based pun, no? I'll get my coat!)
17. If it's unfinished you're going to need to get some laquer on it or it will end up filthy (and not in a nice 70s patina way). The stuff to use would be nitrocellulose laquer. However that is not stuff you want to be inhaling! It will also need some careful sanding and polishing. If you are not particularly DIY minded it might be worth seeking a local luthier that could finish the neck for you
18. The bridge and tailpiece look spot on! Matching gold knobs required...

cat vs cab

I don't know if it will work in this instance, but Andyjr1515 has previously applied veneer by painting PVA glue onto the base wood, waiting for it to dry, then ironing the veneer on. This re-melts the PVA in a slightly less messy way and having instant "grab". It might be worth trying - it's not going to look much worse than it does
20. Peavey Databass. I only retired it a year or two ago
21. At the third rehearsal when the drummer/singist still hadn't learnt any of the songs. With the two guitarists also sub-optimally rehearsed, the whole mess made me feel like a third rate bassist for not being able to lock it all together. It wasn't a band that I was going to put my name to.

Stank?

Is it the "brown" note level control?
23. That's a beautiful top
24. It probably won't fit on A3 but as Andyjr1515 says, you can tweak printer settings to print on multiple sheets with registration marks. Just make sure you double check the actual measurements when you've assembled it. It's very easy to print slightly off scale or get them wrong when drawing and transferring the image
