1. +1 for the Rumble 500. You probably won't need an extension cab but I'd probably pair it with another 2x10. The extension cabs are not exactly the same size as the combo though - if you're a bit OCD about that sort of thing
2. That has come together beautifully. Looking forward to the porn pics
3. Wow! Not jealous at all!
4. Practice with your eyes shut We have four par cans on a crossfade and a twinkly thingy to add a bit of movement. Lighting bands is different to discos
5. What a great little amp! Straight out of the box, plug in a bass and lovely sounds. Give it some welly and it's surprisingly loud, no rattles or farts. It's solidly built and can be used as a wedge. It would be ideal for jams and acoustic nights. Highly recommended if you're looking for a practice amp!
6. Keep them coming! You ought to see my telecaster build thread (on another site). It's been running since September last year and I've lost count of the number of pages! And I still have several months to go at the rate I'm getting stuff done!
7. Wow! That's different. Have you had to use extra long scale strings? Great looking bass - I love the top horn carving
8. Have you got the correct date set on the flux capacitor? Lovely work btw
9. Two large cheap sports holdalls for the lights and associated cables. A medium general purpose hard case for mic and leads. A soft case for my GT6B. Guitar stand and mic stand lashed together with cheap straps. A soft case for the light stands. Bass and strap in a gig bag. Combo with Roqsolid cover (+ hardboard sheet in the optional front pocket) Yes, it takes a few trips
10. I could happily live with one bass - my Squier. But then after telling my lad to put down my vintage Aria I then got out my fretless Jazz for the first time in ages. And I couldn't possibly get rid of the Ric. And... Darned Basschat GASeous atmosphere!
11. I know that I always have room for improvement. I'd rate myself as "competent to handy" rather than virtuoso. There are a lot better bass players out there, but I do a pretty decent job in our guitar/bass/drums trio. Any comments from the audience are usually met with a standard "thanks mate" and not allowed anywhere near my ego
12. I bought a 5 string Yamaha bass from Tobie. Excellent communications and bass arrived in great condition exactly as described. Thanks for a smooth transaction Cheers, Norris
13. Why not use a proper "LED driver" - less than a tenner each on Amazon? They are transformers specially designed for the job
14. Or maybe this would do the trick: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/286772-truss-rod-tool-for-rickenbacker/
15. I have a cheap magnetic screwdriver set with interchangeable bits. The driver with no bit fitted is slim enough to go on the nut and still give you something to turn it with. It fits my Ric without having to hack lumps out of the bass. Of course ymmv
16. Squeeze were great. His voice is still excellent
17. +1 for fine wire wool. Mask off your pickups first though - you don't want stray wire wool near them
18. Stick the bubbles with a needle and you should be able to ease them down. You only need the smallest hole to let the air out and it will be unnoticeable when the bubble has gone Edit: Nice job btw!
19. Some pickups are louder than others. However you might want to try adjusting the pickup height to raise them closer to the strings Edit: If both pickups have become quieter over time then it's more likely to be the tone and volume pots or output jack socket. Give your knobs a good workout (oo-er!) and try plugging your lead in and out a few times in case you have any mucky contacts. If so, a squirt of switch cleaner such as Servisol can help
20. Nice clampage #porn
21.
...and we're back :-)
Confirmed! Yay! Well done to the Mods
22. The air pressure may have also had an effect - probably more on your eardrums than soundwave transmission through the air though
23. I've just had a look at the Cisco web site. There is a page that allows you to look up websites and email addresses. BC is still rated as "Poor". Investigating a bit further I found a section that said you need to raise a support ticket with Cisco if you want them to re-evaluate if you are confident that the site does not contain any malicious content. In other words it will remain blocked until someone starts a dialogue with Cisco to get it resolved
24. Thanks for the suggestions folks. The Ampeg BA-108 gets some cracking reviews and has aux input & headphone socket too. It's also well within budget at £90 from GAK. Top of the list atm Edit to say it also has a level control for the aux input AND an effects send/return loop
25. As Grangur says if your truss rod adjuster is seized, loosen it rather than tighten it as you're less likely to break it. I'd also recommend a proper penetrating oil such as Plusgas
