I'm not familiar with your bass but my Stagg EUB has a truss rod, so can be adjusted just like a bass guitar if required.

I suppose it depends if you change your tone much for different songs and whether you can reach your amp shoehorned in the corner of the Dog & Duck. Or indeed if you have time between songs. Personally I find my passive tone control very useful and use it all the time. I don't feel I have anything missing from my tone when it's rolled off

I was supposed to be the keyboard player in my first school band having learnt piano. I'd also done a lot of stuff on bass trombone. I didn't have a keyboard, the band didn't have a bass player and was considered more important than keys. A bass was easily available (another Kay SG plank of crap) from my then music teacher for a couple of quid and a bassist was born

On a guitar the right note is just a bend away from the wrong one. On a bass it's already too late

I can't comment on basses but my guitarist loves his thinline telecaster copy and users it regularly in his pro band. Well constructed, light as a feather, cheap as chips and sounds great

A large plastic sheet or offcut of linoleum might be in order

I think it was Mike Rutherford that really made me notice the bass before I started playing. I can't say I play anything like him (I wish!) as I have only really played in cover bands, but a truly inspirational bass player Edit: Oh, and Roger Glover

[/quote] My guitarist uses whichever guitar he fancies on the night and he has a few of them. Singles, 'buckers, P90s. He never struggles with muddiness or harshness. He just tweaks the amp and pedals accordingly. Some may struggle to feedback when he wants them to, but that's probably more due to the actual room rather than anything else. I think the OP's guitarist(s) need to learn to control their equipment. The manufacturers put knobs on amps and pedals for a reason
