1.
Big budget films and - increasingly - video games are where you'll find a lot of new classical composers earning their crust these days. Video games being a huge market that now rivals Hollywood in terms of revenue. Check out people like Jesper Kyd and Kow Otani. Plenty of "expression, beauty and emotion" in their work
My 13 year old son listens to classic fm on his radio (the rest of the family don't often) and recognises a lot of pieces from the music on Civilisation V (a video game for you fuddy-duddies )
2.
Got one, love it. I use a 12" cab under it at practice and for some of the larger gigs. The 210 combo goes loud and tbh never had a problem hearing it, I just like to move a bit more air and having it stacked I hear it better. I have just gone and ordered another Rumble 210 to match it with. Seems I prefer 10's again to 12's. I have a few rigs and prefer the Rumble over the more expensive stuff I have, just suits what I'm doing more and has a great look imo
Thanks. GAS is burning
3. My trusty Peavey combo is getting a bit long in the tooth now, enough for me to consider putting it out to pasture. Having initially thought about going the TH500/Barefaced route, I'm now looking at the new V3 Fender Rumble 500 combo. It looks a cracking bit of kit for the money, half the weight of my current beast and just as powerful. I've read some decent reviews, but wondered if any BCers have got one yet and what your impressions are. Is it full sounded & pokey enough? Any reliability issues? Are you confident with it?
4. Are there any lyric sites out there that actually have the correct lyrics to songs on them? I don't think I've ever found lyrics that have been absolutely right for any song, and quite often it's like someone's jotted down what they vaguely remember after some bloke told them in the pub in the middle of a good drinking session. They may have the right words in the wrong order if you're lucky. They are always handy as a "starter for ten" for covers you are learning, but you invariably have to go through and correct them. BTW, the question is rhetorical - I'm not after actual site links, just griping . I'd never blindly trust any site. They are not actually lyric sites, as they don't have the actual lyrics on them!
5.
Those people who swear they'll never buy a Ric because of Mr Hall's alledged tendency to threaten litigation at the drop of a hat, shouldn't forget about the second hand market. You CAN buy a second hand Ric, and not a penny of the proceeds will go anywhere near Mr Hall's coffers. Saying that though, the current price of second hand Ric's is getting so that you can generally buy a new one for around the same price as you'd pay for an old one... go figure!
That's just what I did (except it was a pretty good price second hand too!)
6.
What happened??...it was before my time
It's all on a thread somewhere. Somebody linked it on one of the many recent Ric threads, but it would take ages to find on my mobile gizmo
7. For sure
8. Leicester isn't that far from Warwick but probably too far for you
9. I love mine and don't care what anybody else thinks about that. I am also of the opinion that the incumbent CEO is not a very nice person. (Edit) and that is the reason behind the "is it fake or not" TRC change (in small text it says "Genuine 4003" - so it must be!) I was lucky enough to snap up mine here on BC just before the Hall-abaloo policy change
10.
On the fogger thing BTW, I'm a big fan but always check where the venue's smoke detectors are before you set up ...
I've never had an issue, no complaints, no alarms. Maybe it depends on the type of detector
11. I should have red less 'ter stay sane
12. A fog machine makes a lighting system go a long way too. My KAM one is good. I had nothing but trouble with American DJ ones
13. I have bits I bought separately. Of the lights I have I can recommend the Chauvet Mini Kinta. It's a really good light for the money if you wanted to supplement a set, and adds a bit of movement to the performance if you're a bit constrained on space for jigging about
14.
Will this be quoted on FB? I don't know, I doubt I'm that interesting
It's appreciated
15.
Wow! You're still here? Couldn't find the door, huh?
That provoked an audible titter
16.
What the hell is this?
Nothing to see here. Move on
17. Some people get so shirty about such trivial things on t'internet
18. Anyone for tiffin? 7 pages? S#!t. He's used up the internet
19. For live gigs I prefer the fuller tone of a hearty treacle sponge. However for recording straight into the desk a tangy lemon tart is much more suitable
20. Better make that a de-caff
21.
I'm just sharing my opinion
Job done. Make yourself a nice cup of coffee to celebrate
22.
₤1500 for rice pudding? To use your analogy, it's like a cult of personality that surrounding these poorly made basses that hypes up ₤1500 tins of rice pudding. My point, that same money will get you more pudding elsewhere at 1/10th of the price for the same quality.
Nobody forces me to eat rice pudding. Don't buy a Rickenbacker if you don't like them. I'm not too keen on caviar either
23. I don't like rice pudding. It doesn't mean that no-one else should enjoy it
24. Anyone got a ruler I can borrow? ;-) I don't like mine too low
25. Ooh. The Aria SB-1000 has been lacquered today. It might just make the bash...
