1. Might come back to you early next week about the MXR Bass Chorus...if it's still here! Bump.
2. I'm not jealous at not being there in then the slightest. Honest...I'm not...seriously......??!!
3. Apart form the £400, what is the difference between the Special and the Standard models?
4. Yeah, I'm coming to the conclusion that this definitely is the wrong pedal for me at this time 51mon.
5.
MXR M82
I may be able to help you out there shortly!
6. I guess your mum did not mind her curtains getting pinched every time you had a gig?!
7. I currently have an irrational feeling of GAS for a Gretsch at present. I've never played one, I don't know anyone who has one, I have never knowingly even heard one but yet I can't seem to stop checking them out online lately. Like I said, irrational.
8.
The first track that springs to mind is Sir Psycho Sexy by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Listen to what Flea does with the filter he uses - the verse starts off clean then after the first section, 30 secs or so, he kicks the filter on to add a bit of dynamic then plays clean again for the chorus & bridge sections. Try experimenting and see what you come up with.
Actually, that was the very reason for my only other experience with filters when I bought a Micro Q-Tron about 15 years ago to try it out that very track. However once the novelty quickly wore off, it was delegated to 'dust catching' duties...pretty much the same duties I fear the MXR is destined.
9. Thanks icastle. Yeah it is Windows 7, and yeah I'm on IE. I'll chat with the IT bloke in my work and see if I can download Mozilla, that's what I use at home and it works with no issues. Cheer again, Dougie.
10. Hey there, I was wondering if someone with more techie knowledge than me can help me out? I'm querying if there is anything I can change in my settings to sort this out, but the RETURN function doesn't seem to want to work for me when I am using my works laptop in the text box to either start a new thread, reply to an existing thread or to start or reply to a PM. There is no issue with this at home using either my desktop or ipad, or when I use my mobile, it seems to be purely only the works laptop that's causing the problem. As you can see, it makes paragraphs pretty much non-existent!! Cheers, Dougie.
11. I recently bought an MXR Bass Envelope Filter, more because I thought it was a bargain at the price and I simply fancied trying one out, rather than because I had an actual use for it. I really love the sound it gives when I’m messing around at home, but the thing is, I never really know where or how to use it in an actual band setting. When I bought it, I was playing in a covers band, playing a wide range of stuff – and I know this isn’t really the way to look at it – but I thought I would be able to fit it in ‘somewhere’. Now though, I’ve since changed bands and found myself in an original 3-piece, classic / 70’s rock influenced band and I’m guessing it’s again going to continually find itself redundant. Basically, I just wondering how others on here use their envelope filters to ‘compliment’ rather than ‘offend’ the composition. **Samples are – of course – most welcome!**
12. I should add, I've just ordered the Darkglass Vintage Microtubes pedal this morning off Bass Direct to give me a warmer sound. Perhaps there's no need whatsoever in moving on from the MXR and I should simply let the GAS subside?!
13. I'd be interested in hearing peoples opinions on the Sadowsky or the Tonehammer pedals when compared to the MXR M80 DI+ which I currently have. Lately, I'm not feeling that the MXR is doing it for me, but I don't know if its based on pure tonal 'fact' or rather simply me having pent up GAS for trading up for something better or newer!! I had been looking at the new MXR Bass Preamp pedal, but reading the reviews and threads so far, it would appear that all I'm going to achieve is more room on the pedalboard...so it does seem rather pointless in going from the M80 to the M81 for little tonal benefit.
14. I've been checking out the reviews for this over the last week or so and decided to pull the trigger this morning...£175 delivered from Bass Direct...it's what credit cards were invented for!!
15. Emailed Thomann to see if they would be selling this earlier today as I couldn't see it on their website and they got back to say they will be selling it at €177 - which works out at around £145 - although bear in mind you need to be spending €199 or over to get the free shipping.
16. In what way do you mean? Just asking, cause anytime I've seen him on anything on TV he seems somewhat reserved, bordering on extremely shy.
17. I remember reading a thread on here not long after he first appeared on the scene where he got absolutely slated for not being original enough, but it think the wee guy is brilliant. Saw him at the O2 Academy in Glasgow last October and seeing him again at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh on a Saturday night, really looking forward to it.
18. I love my MXR Bass Envelope Filter. I currently play no songs that actually require an envelope filter, but that doesn't matter. Inappropriate levels of 70's porn bass can ruin many a good song!!

I just bought a TC Polytune Mini off davey. Paid late Tuesday night, posted Wednesday, delivered Thursday...quality pedal, quality service, quality communications. All good!!
20.
What kind of way is that to run a business?
It'll never catch on!!
21. I've been stung by them twice in recent years... ...twice I've been in with no intention of buying anything and twice I've been 'tricked' into signing up for 12 months interest free for a Lakland Skyline 55-02 Deluxe and a Sadowsky MV4. They're a nasty bunch, so they are!!
22. Thanks for all the kind comments. The band is called "Bone Island", but they only have rough working demos at present, there's no website or anything at present. As soon as there is something half decent to read and hear, I'll post a link to my sig.
23. So after a year in 2013 which was a complete and utter waste for me musically, I've just been offered a position in an originals, classic 70's rock influenced, trio. Only rough demos at the moment, but loads of room to let me bring out my inner JPJ and Entwistle licks...haha...(yeah, I wish!) Had two auditions on back-to-back nights this week - Tuesday and last night - and was offered them both on both nights, giving me the choice of accepting the one I was really after. I've spent the last 10 or 11 months messing around in a covers - I'm reluctant to use this word! - "band", which was never destined to succeed and had more members in that time than Trigger's brush had handles! 2013 was a complete wet fart for me, where I even - albeit very briefly - contemplated selling up all my gear and packing it in after the latest failed venture...but now 2014's looking the bollocks already!! Can't wait to get started... Chuffed, from Scotland.
24. [sub]PM'd...and in incredibly small text for some bizarre reason?!! [/sub]
