2. No bother Peter...was only half serious, but I might have flinched if you'd said yes!! Good luck with the sale.
3. This was nearly mine a few weeks ago. Still looks stunning in the photos. I think the Duck Dunn suggestion is worth looking into Peter, I'm loving mine since I bought it last month, I find the jazz neck works better for me also. So...you don't a 55-02 deluxe, do you??!
4. And looking extremely happy with it too, so it appears!
5. Haha, sorry, I certainly wasn't meaning to come across in that manner...apologies if I offended... To be honest - and as a direct result of your post - I purposely lifted it this morning off the shelf, dusted it off and brought it in the car to work this morning... It's not as bad as perhaps I made it out to be, but not a patch on "Riot City Girl", which is my favourite Scream album of recent times...
6. REM won't. They split up two years ago.
7.
Now, Primal Scream's new album More Light came in under the radar and is my vote. Can't stop listening to it. It's fantastic.
I bought that as well, listened to the first five or six tracks, filed it back in it's case and it's never seen the light of day since.
8.
What time did bbc show it? Was it red button? I saw craig charles introduce pubic enemy ,and switced over. Watched wallander, still no stones ...
It was on BBC 2, programme started at 10.30, think they were on about 15 mins in. I've got it Sky +'d. In two minds whether to bother now though after these comments!!
9.
The Next Day
Shout!
10. I'm happy to admit that this thread is a round about way of me asking for suggestions for new music to listen to!!
11.
Lol. I had a beer with him before that show - and I can confirm he was terrified! I also stood about 4 feet in front of him throughout the show and you could easily see his fingers trembling...the amount of sweat on the finger board was another indicator. For those not in the know Allan suffers from chronic stage fright. I find it amazing that one of the greatest ever exponents of the electric guitar suffers in this way when playing to a crowd of 200 admirers!!! On the second occasion that I saw Allan in the Ferry I ended up in deep conversation with Jimmy Johnson who asked me for advice on Sansamp drivers....he asked ME for advice!! Ridiculous................ I got the hell out of there before I was rumbled as captain bluff of the the 2nd bluff brigade.
I've heard artists say that before, they'd rather play in front of an audience of 5,000 than one of 500, due to the intimacy of it... Personally I sh*t a brick in front of an audience of 50...!!
12. Perhaps more suited to 'Off Topic', but never mind...just wondering, what's everyone's top albums of 2013 so far? Personally, I can stop listening to Queens Of The Stone Age's "...Like Clockwork"' think it is an absolutely outstanding collection of tunes. Of all the reviews I've read, I've not seen it score any higher than 4 out of 5, but I absolutely love it.
13.
The current crop.
What exactly is the collective term for Precisions? Personally I'm finding myself thinking, "that's a fine haven of Precisions"...!!!
14. A number of years ago, I saw Seasick Steve supporting Supergrass in the Glasgow ABC, had no idea at all who he was, but was immediately impressed. Only know it was him as I remember him telling the crowd he was going to be playing the Mississippi drum machine to the next track!!! Must have been not long after being 'discovered' on Jools Holland. He was waiting outside the venue afterwards shaking hands and saying goodbye to the punters leaving. Cool guy!
15. Cheers. It's currently sitting for now with the white plate as I wanted to compare the two. Don't think it'll be long until the black one re-emerges!
16. I'm no expert by any means, but the bottom contour looks a bit to sharp, almost diagonal to me.
17. This thread made me go out and order "Graceland" off Amazon last night.
18. Last night at our weekly rehearsal when we were playing The Coral's "Dreaming Of You", towards the end of the tune I started playing some lines off The Cure's "Love Cats". It seemed to work really well and and it got us thinking we could probably merge from one into the other without too many problems, or even morph into a version of The Cure and then morph back into The Coral to finish. We also do The Beatles "Back In The USSR" and end with a bar of A - G - A, similar to the opening bars of The Kinks "You Really Got Me" which would appear is now going to be on our setlist as a result...a song I absolutely hate by the way, but that's for another thread. I've also got the Stevie Wonder live CD "Natural Wonder", where the band does a version of "Sir Duke" which goes straight into "I Wish", which I have strongly campaigned for us introducing into the set as well. So I was just wondering if any other cover band musos out there do similar or if anyone had any suggestions or ideas we could perhaps investigate for similarly sounding / workable tunes? Cheers, Dougie.
19. Just since I'm a nosy bar-steward...did anything ever come from this?
20. It's not the best of both worlds though is it? If it were, it would have P pickups (which it has) and it would have two J pickups (which it hasn't). If you want the 'best' of both worlds, buy two basses. Only my opinion of course.
21. Depends whether it is an expensive laminated one, or a cheapo vistaprint* one. *Other business card makers are available.
22. James Jamerson's "Darling Dear" (Jacksons) should be in there.
23. Never understood the P/J mix myself, if you want a P bass, buy a P bass, if you want a Jazz, by a Jazz.
