I hope you took immediate advantage by having a go on her bongos.

If that's the case (and I must admit it didn't occur to me  ) then I respectfully withdraw the 5-string suggestion.
-
Well I assumed from the original post that the guy is detuned from E to B. Don't you think that would affect the sound? I reckon it would, perhaps you know better.
-
I'd suggest trying a 5-string bass. Your strings must be flapping all over the place and that's not going to help the clarity of your output.

I just spent a grand on a bass. More than I could really spare, but I justified it by looking at other people asking a lot more for the same model. I can't ever see myself spending that kind of money again.

I play metal. I'm heavy as a heavy thing I am.

Good grief, you're lucky you didn't decapitate someone!
There's an interesting thought. If a chicken can run around for 10 seconds after you've chopped it's head off, how long do you reckon a drummer can maintain the beat under the same circumstances?
-
Yup, the Thumb is ace on it's own, but it also cuts through the guitar sludge in the band as well.

Bought a pristine Warwick from Pete last week. No problems at all doing the deal or collecting the bass. Pete's an excellent bloke to deal with and he's really helpful, friendly and informative at all times.

Yeah, spot the cats!

I found neck dive to be a (not big, but technique-affecting) problem on my Thumb last night, when I played it in anger for the first time.
I'd like to try a non-slip strap first. Can anybody hook me up with a link to where I can get one please? -
Agree with all the previous comments - friendly, great advice on gear etc - only trouble is my GAS has gone thru the roof looking at what everyone else plays!
Took the words right out of my mouth. -
I love early Megadeth, but they've been sh1te for years and Mustaine is a pewling idiot.
-
I picked up my NT Thumb 5 last night having never played a Warwick before and, as I have been reading this sort of thread quite a lot on here, I was quite fearful about the neck. but it just seems normal to me - maybe even a little narrower than I'm used to.

I bought 2 SM58s a couple of years ago. They're pretty cheap now and seem fine to me. Mind you, I'm hardly Whitney Houston...

Ahahahahaha.
I told my wife that I would like a Warwick Thumb for my birthday this year (40th) and she pressured and pressured me until I found one. She wouldn't let me get a BO either, 'cos she knew I really wanted an NT. We really can't afford it. She's awesome.
Collecting the NT tomorrow (thanks Pete).... -
Recently, that Simpsons theme that Stuart Clayton posted. It's not just the playing of it (which is insane), it's the working it out. There's a completely mental two-handed bit in it that really just scares the life out of me. I reckon that if I could play that, I could probably play anything, but I acknowledge that - even given all the time in the world just to practise bass - I'd never crack it.
-
You sent me back to my youth so I went looking for this. Gotta love WASP!

Much rather do songs I like. Because I take lead vocal as well as bass, an interesting bassline isn't the be all and end all for me.
-
£70? Oh god, that's ridiculously cheap.

Wasn't Boris The Spider one of his 'signature tracks'? I'd buy the book to get The Real Me anyway.

I have one of those tiny little Marshall 'stacks' that runs off of a 9v battery. It is rubbish though...
My first public performance...yikes!!

I'll be the heretic then, I say get pi55ed and go mental. Make them force you off stage after 45 minutes of ham-fisted bass soloing and dodgy dancing. If you feel like you're losing them at any point, just get your willy out.
