On topic,lessonswise...well,you ever wondered exactly how good you are,or what gaps there are in your playing?
All the time, but I don't really want someone to list it out for me.

I'd hate to make any noise that had ever been made by the B52s. Worst band in history.
-
Crikey, that's the swirliest thing in swirly land.
-
I do lead vocals as well as bass, so any accuracy in my playing is more by luck than judgement.
Personally, and this is an instrument specific perspective, once you realise that noone would notice the bass player, visually or aurally, unless s/he actually caught fire, the edge is taken off it
I snorted at that. Beautifully constructed sentence, with the joke right at the end. -

It sure is pretty. How much do they go for on Ebay? -
I'd love to do that.
-
Adrian Erlandsson? You lucky, lucky man. And Stuart Clayton too. It sounds like a fantastic week. Do you mind if I ask how much it cost?

It's fabulous. Where can I find out more? Is it a total one off? Is it a partially lined fretless? Where are the pickups? Where are the controls? -
Hmmm, even £650 might be a bit full, I've seen them go for £450 on Ebay. I think they're intrinsically worth more than they're making at the moment, so I'd be inclined to hang onto it if you can.

My wife used to snog his poster when she was younger, and she still goes gooey if she sees the video for True.
I therefore bet he can't play for toffee.

Depends how I'm playing. Recently, it's mostly been called a F***ING STUPID PIECE OF CR&P.
-
You're not gonna get anywhere near £200 for the kids, not if they're anything like mine.
-
Crikey, what's the one on the top left?
-
Get well soon then.
-
Groovy.
One word of warning. Warwick send you all the usual order processing emails, but they're all in German, so I had no idea what was going on at any stage.
-
Sounds good to me. I can play the intro to Smoke On The Water if anyone's struggling.

Here you go chap.

I'm no expert to be honest, but I have made the JAN2 to JAN3 change on my Thumb.
I did consider a JAN1, mostly for the look of it rather than the sound. What put me off is that you have to take the strings off to adjust the nut height on a JAN1. It seemed to me that you'd have to de-string, adjust the height, re-string, test the height, de-string again, etc. It just seemed like a pain to me.
Also, I've heard it said that people have had to take a file to their headstocks to get a JAN1 into the space previously occupied by the JAN2, and there was no way that I was going to do that. The JAN3 just slots right in there (if you take the truss rod cover thingy off first). -
Sounds like a banning offence to me mate.

So much potential for innuendo.
Must resist. -
I have no particularly erudite thoughts on the subject, but I think it's pretty clear that, in terms of absolute popularity, technique is not going to make much difference. In point of fact, the real virtuosos are probably less popular than they could be if they hid their chops under a metaphorical bushel sometimes.
-
Just get a JAN3 from Warwick. The JAN2 is rubbish anyway, because the retaining pegs snap off and leave you with nasty sharp edges at the edge of the nut. The JAN3 is cheap, Warwick send it quickly, and the swap out is a piece of cake.
I'd then have to've grown my hair (check my profile pic as to the main reason why this'd be an issue) and made it do that flicky kinda-across-the-face thing...ooh, and dyed it black, and worn my jeans round the middle of my thighs, and started wearing black checkerboard belts/ties/scarfs etc etc etc...
Ooooh, we seem to have tapped a deep, bitter vein of prejudice there.

Are you sure it's not just better to wait to see if another of whatever it is turns up closer to home?
