  1. If it’s not a Vigier Passion II then it ought to be!
  2. These are fantastic. I had one a few years ago. The sound was very Smith like, also like a Sadowsky Modern. Built just as well.
  3. Reduced to £580 My band is going either in ear or in more of a personal monitor route for our gigs so I’ve changed my setup accordingly. Partly I’d like to keep this rig for occasional loud jams here and there (I bet I need it as soon as I sell it) but I shouldn’t need anything this big for the foreseeable. It’s a 500w 2x10 combo on top of a separately powered 1x15 extension cabinet (which is fed a signal by the 2x10). Each half is a fairly easy lift; either with the top handle or by carrying like a box. I’d like to sell them as a pair hence the bargain price. It’s a lot of rig for the money, complete with built in effects (drive, OD, fuzz, chorus, octave) plus three ‘voice’ modes and three ‘response’ modes. I had this at the same time as a 6550 valve head and had them sounding really similar. Live, it’s full of punch and clarity. The 15 really rounds out the bottom. Importantly it sounds full and detailed even at low volume. Collection ideally from York but I can also meet up depending on distances etc but message to discuss. I will add more pics of a couple of scratches on the tolex but nothing major. 4. Mine used to be modern sounding, two pickups, super low action, probably carbon. Then I bought an ancient Mustang and it changed everything.

    Orba 2

Thanks, very tempting. Artiphon have just released the Orba 3, which has built in sample recording too. I'm more likely to go for one of those, I think.
  6. Someone get the AF9, it’s awesome
  7. I’m glad someone noticed my haircut!
  8. Here’s the manual 👍🏼 I think mine sounded best with higher voltage power. For convenience I used a 24v output from my Cioks but I also use it with batteries a lot. Particularly convenient because it has an off switch so you can leave it plugged in. More voltage means you get a bit more range out of it and it’s a bit quieter in terms of background noise. 9. Shrinkflation since then means it's now £2000 and you only get 1x10"
  10. I should think it's fine for the neck, but I'd be worried about the tuners - IMO they need a bit of space, and with the G string tuner being right at the end of the headstock I'd be worried about it getting bashed
  11. Hm, weird. I have packed it up to send back but maybe I'll crack it open and record it to show you if I have time before the return window.
  12. I think I'd prefer it to make the background noice all the time rather than than cut out when there's no signal; it makes it more noticeable! We're nearly there - as @Al Krow says, the technology is getting better and each version is improving - now we just need the best elements of each to combine into a device which truly competes with a cable. With a handy charging case.
  13. 2.4 gives dropouts at home quite frequently, probably due to the proximity to other stuff. The Nux has a cable tone option too but it evidently doesn’t do enough! I can roll it off to an extent at home (using my headphone setup where the difference is still apparent though to a lesser extent) and with the amp but I don’t feel it’s optimal to do so, and I’m still left with the ‘noise’ when a signal is detected or below threshold. And sure I’m being very critical and could probably work around it, but given my setup which I have lovingly saved and researched over the years to what I find is my best sound, I don’t want to compromise it for the sake of a little convenience yet (even just a tiny bit!)
  14. I agree. Perhaps it was bad timing to have got the Nux at the same time as the Eich, because all of a sudden I could hear myself really well, maybe too well in this case, especially at band practice where there tends to be more start-stop and less out and out playing as a full band. In particular I noticed the noise when discussing and breaking down bass parts with the keys.
  15. I’ve fallen out of love with the NUX. In some environments you can hear a level of background noise which is sort of ‘gated’ with an Audible ‘pop’. I also think even with cable tone engaged it’s too trebly compared to my cable. I only really noticed this when using my Eich combo in lean back mode so I can hear the top end super clearly. It wasn’t too noticeable on my last gig but at practice the other night it was, and once I noticed the signal noise it was kind of game over. I think perhaps I’m a bit too analytical about signal noise but I’m not willing to compromise on it. I think with a less clean rig then this wouldn’t be an issue and even less so in a band mix but in my situation it sort of robs me of the clank and makes it too sharp. The tone with the cable - bang on. I think the perfect mix for me would be the sound of the Boss unit combined with the form factor, case and bandwidth of the Nux. The boss altered the treble range too but in more of a curtailed way at a lower frequency.
  16. Looks great. But I think it falls into the trap that lots of short scale basses tend to, in that the pickups are too widely spaced so that the bridge is a bit nasal and the neck is wooly. Together it's a bit hollow. I will need to check one out for myself obviously but I'm not loving the sounds in the demos.
  17. Thanks yeah I thought so 👍🏼👍🏼
  18. I had trouble with the title, can you tell? Just a random question really, thought I'd ask as someone asked me. Say I have a combo with 1x12" speaker. If I get an extension speaker of the same make with 2x12" speakers, will the power be shared equally between the speakers or will the combo (1x12) basically be louder?
  19. I've just unlocked your account (too many failed logins) Just double check that the username and PW is the same when filled on your phone, as iCloud sometimes can store two for the same site or not sync properly. If it still doesn't work I'll send you a new password reset which might be best - and delete any saved login info before you change the PW. Send me a PM if it's easier Cheers

    headphone amps

Yeah they work well but are severely overcooked - it's not like turning your head away from an actual amplifier means you literally can't hear it in the other ear. I was hoping they would update the firmware to make the effect more subtle. I'm talking to Roland at the moment about something else so I may mention it and see if there's any likelihood of that being updated.

    headphone amps

Waza Air use the Bluetooth MIDI which I think we'll start to see more widely in musical applications. I love the system and lack of any latency but I find the headphones are tuned in a certain way which is hard to overcome completely. Also the app is illogical, once you figure it out it's OK but unless yo use it regularly you'll forget again. Fortunately once you're set you barely need to open it, just turn on the headphones, plug the transmitter in and off you go.

    Jamnasium 😂
  23. Thanks guys, I’m about to start recording with the band so will hopefully have some tunes to share soon 👍🏼 in the meantime I might re-do the bass on the existing album which was released before I joined (only to help me learn; I doubt I’ll improve matters!)
  24. Yes I only noticed that now, good attention to detail 😄
